A gurdwara (Punjabi: ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ, gurduārā or , gurdwārā), meaning the Gateway to the Guru, is a place of worship for Sikhs,[1] the followers of Sikhism. The most well-known gurdwara of the Sikhs is the Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar, Punjab, India. There are no idols, statues, or religious pictures in a gurdwara, but the essential feature of a gurdwara is the presiding presence of the holy book, the Gu

ru Granth Sahib.[2] The Sikhs hold high respect for the commandments laid down in the Guru Granth Sahib. A gurdwara has a darbar (main) hall, a free community kitchen langar, and other facilities. Many of the gurdwaras in Punjab have a pool (sarovar) for bathing in. The Sikh marriage, called Anand Karaj is performed inside gurdwara.[3]
The first gurdwara was built in Kartarpur, Pakistan Kartarpur in the year 1521 by the first Sikh guru, Guru Nanak Dev. The Vasant Kunj is now more than 20 years old and a new one is under construction. This new Gurdwara building has many inspirations from the Sikh Holy Scriptures and will be one marvel of modern architecture blended with the history of religion and architecture. The intent and purpose of this group is communicate, collaborate and communicate the various programmes, functions, events etc to the masses. Pls join this group and help us grow the community.
