When we are baptized, we promise to love and serve those around us, just as the Savior did. Because we are human, we all fall short at times and make mistakes. But our Heavenly Father, in His infinite love and mercy, provided a way for us to be continually cleansed and renewed, through the sacrament.

Each week, as we partake of the bread and water, we are not just remembering Christ’s sacrifice we are recommitting ourselves to follow Him and His example. We are commiting to love and show kindness to those around us.

Be Kind and Eliminate Contention

“Resolve to be kind to others. When the Savior Jesus Christ visited the Americas, as recorded in the Book of Mormon, one of the first things He taught was the need to eliminate contention in our lives. So, please be compassionate, be understanding, be slow to judge, and be quick to forgive.”

Kindness is the essence of a celestial life. Kindness is how a Christlike person treats others. Kindness should permeate all of our words and actions at work, at school, at church, at apartment and especially in our homes.

Jesus Christ lives, and you can at general conference through the Spirit in messages given by His servants. The Savior invites us to “learn of [Him], and listen to [His] words; walk in the meekness of [His] Spirit, and you shall have peace in [Him]” (Doctrine and Covenants 19:23).

Forgiveness is a commandment in the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints . The Lord has said, “I, the Lord, will forgive whom I will forgive, but of you it is required to forgive all men” 1. This means that as followers of Jesus Christ, we are expected to extend forgiveness to others.

Learn from Opportunities: Life provides us with ample opportunities to learn forgiveness. When wronged by others, we can choose to react with bitterness or anger, or we can follow the Lord’s way and seek healing through forgiveness
