Sakya Monlam Foundation is a non-profit NGO established solely for cultural reasons. It was created for the purpose of organizing annual Sakya Monlam Prayer Festivals. The goals of the Foundation are to promote peace and harmony in every corner of the world, to restore Buddhism to its rightful status, and, thus, to strive in service of Buddha Dharma. Following the advice of our refuge and patron,

His Holiness the 41st Sakya Trichen, the supreme head of the Sakya order of Tibetan Buddhism, the foundation decided to oversee and monitor the educational development of monks in Sakya monasteries. It will also conduct awareness campaigns to promote an understanding of Buddhism in society at large and at the same time, strive for environmental preservation.

The 13th Pal Sakya Rigter Spring Dharma activity(Rigter Kyicho Chenmo) was held at the Sakya college fifteen days, beginning on March 9, 2026.

On March 23, during the internal monastic debate and discussion session, His Holiness the 42nd Sakya Trizin Rinpoche graced the event as the presiding guest of honor. His Holiness presented awards and certificates to the participants and bestowed precious advice and guidance upon the entire assembly. Thus, this year’s Great Sakya Spring Dharma activity concluded successfully and auspicious .

Buddhist logic teaches us to rely on understanding and experience, not blind belief. Great scholars like Dignāga and Dharmakīrti showed that true knowledge comes from perception and reasoning.

Sakya College was founded on 19 th December 1972 at Barlowganj in Mussoorie, Dehradun, by His Holiness Sakya Gongma Trichen Rinpoche and Khenchen Appey Rinpoche.

Initially the college was a rented house at Barlowganj and May Cottage for eight long years. In 1980, it was shifted to the present location and has thrived well ever since.
