*** IN LOVING MEMORY OF KAYSI LHAMU SHERPA ***

On March 15th, we were honored to host the one-year memorial of Kaysi Lhamu Sherpa, organized by her family at the monastery.

On this occasion, many members of our sangha gathered together with lamas from Sakya Monastery in Rimbick, creating a deeply meaningful and spiritual atmosphere.
We warmly thank the family for their trust and generosity, and for offering a heartfelt meal to all who attended.

May the merit of this day bring benefit and peace to all beings.

*** MANTRA ROCK PROJECT : A BRAVE HEART ON THE CLIFF ***

Nyima Sherpa from Gumpa Khoti, whom we like to nickname "Nyima the Brave," has undertaken a truly titanic task: cleaning the sacred rock above the monastery, the most important of all the mantra rocks surrounding it.
Fearless before the challenge, he works with dedication high on the cliff, revealing day after day the ancient inscriptions.
Through this demanding work, he has the opportunity to embody many of the qualities cherished in Buddhist practice — patience, discipline, joyful effort, and concentration.
We are deeply grateful to him for this inspiring commitment.

We are also sincerely thankful to the first sponsors who have begun supporting this restoration project: the family of the late Dawa Dordje Sherpa’s family from Namla (5,000 Rs).

This slightly crazy project is, in fact, an important effort to preserve our precious cultural and spiritual heritage.
We warmly welcome and appreciate any new sponsors who wish to support the continuation of this meaningful project.

*** A MEANINGFUL UNION IN NAMLA ***

Yesterday we were honored to celebrate the marriage of Rabden Sherpa and Hemkala S***a in Namla.

In the Himalayan Buddhist tradition, marriage reminds us that a shared life can become a path of mutual support and practice.
By relying on one another, a couple can cultivate patience, compassion, and inner strength to face life’s challenges, while also creating more benefit for others.

We wish them a long, healthy, and meaningful life together, filled with harmony, kindness, and wisdom.

*** IN LOVING MEMORY OF PASSANG DOMA ***

Yesterday, during our monthly teaching day, the whole Sangha gathered to pay tribute to Passang Doma, who passed away a few days ago and was a cherished member of our community.

Together, we offered prayers and chanted for her fortunate rebirth, dedicating merit for her journey onward. We also stood alongside her family in their time of grief, holding them in compassion and support.

May Passang Doma’s path be peaceful and blessed.
May her family find strength and comfort in the warmth of the Sangha.

*** TWO UNIONS, ONE FAMILY, COUNTLESS BLESSINGS ***

On February 20th and 21st, we had the great joy of celebrating the unions of two couples from the same family : Norbu Sherpa & Mingma Lhamu Sherpa, and Shenga Sherpa & Gyalmu Sherpa, according to the Himalayan Buddhist tradition.

In this tradition, marriage is a sacred commitment grounded in mutual respect, compassion, and shared spiritual responsibility.

During the ceremony, rice is offered as a symbol of abundance and fertility, butter represents clarity and wisdom, and khatas are offered to express pure intentions and heartfelt blessings.

It was a beautiful and meaningful celebration, filled with devotion and family warmth.

May their lives together be long, harmonious, and blessed on the path they now walk side by side.

🙏 IN LOVING MEMORY OF DAWA SHERPA 🙏

Yesterday, part of our Sangha gathered to commemorate the first anniversary of the passing of Dawa Sherpa (Chow), our close neighbor and dear friend, who was always ready to offer his help to the monastery.

We came together in prayer and chanting, honoring his memory and dedicating our practice to him and to all sentient beings who wander from life to life. With heartfelt intention, we prayed for a higher rebirth for all, on the path toward full enlightenment.

We sincerely thank his family for organizing this memorial day and for allowing us to share such a warm and meaningful moment together.

MANTRA ROCK PROJECT – A WONDERFUL SURPRISE VOLUNTEER 🌸
Two days ago, one of our neighbors — a graduate of the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute Darjeeling, and a renown experienced climber — arrived unexpectedly at the monastery early in the morning, expressing his wish to help.

He kindly dedicated his entire day to cleaning the largest mantra rock of the monastery, helping the sacred inscriptions reappear.

🙏 A heartfelt thank you to Kumar Lugunn Rai Bantawo for his time, energy, and dedication.
May this meritorious action bring benefit to all beings.

🙏 MANTRA ROCK PROJECT – New Sponsor 🙏

Last year, a young European woman undertook a truly titanic task as a volunteer, cleaning the rocks above the monastery.
After three weeks of dedicated and joyful effort, a part of the sacred mantras reappeared, once again visible to all.

Today, thanks to the generous contribution of
*** Yehe Gyatso Sherpa (Tibet Kitchen, Goa) ***,
this precious work can continue. He is sponsoring one full month of work by Phurlamu Sherpa and Pema Chuchu’s Cham to complete the rock cleaning.

We are now actively seeking further support to cover the next step: repainting the mantras (materials and labor).
With humble hearts, we invite your generosity to help preserve and revive these sacred inscriptions for future generations.

🙏 MANTRA ROCK PROJECT – Technical Support in Action 🙏

These pictures show the careful preparation and safety training made by experimented climber Dawa Gyalpo Sherpa ( Nanglo Farm stay in Rimbick.

This has been made possible thanks to the generous cooperation of Himalayan Mountaineering Institute Darjeeling (HMI).

The climbing equipment kindly lent to us by HMI allows our team to work safely and responsibly on the mantra rocks that are otherwise inaccessible.

This precious support is an important step for the continuation of the project.

We sincerely hope it will inspire further financial or human contribution, so that the restoration of these sacred mantras may continue for the benefit of all.

✨ MANTRA ROCK PROJECT – 4 🌸

A festival of colors is now beautifully emerging from the rock as new volunteers join the project, bringing a meaningful community dimension to this shared effort.

Our heartfelt thanks to Doma Sherpa, Phurlamu Sherpa, and Lakpa Dikee Sherpa for their precious time and dedicated energy. 🙏

A reminder that the project is still unfolding — many mantra rocks remain to be restored, and all forms of support, financial or hands-on, are most welcome.

✨ MANTRA ROCK PROJECT – 3 🌸

The renovation of the holy scriptures continues auspiciously as our two dedicated climbers paint the green letter MA.

In Tibetan Buddhism, MA / མ represents the purification of desire and attachment,
and invites us to cultivate ethical discipline (Sila) on the spiritual path.

May this work be a source of inspiration, reminding us that inner transformation and outer actions go hand in hand.
