Today, on a special day, we commemorate the 22nd year of the passing of our supreme guide, the incomparable kindness of the glorious lama, the true lord of the wheel, whose name is difficult to utter, yet for the sake of the dharma, we mention it, His Eminence, the revered Vajradhara Karma Ngendön Chökyi Lodrö Palzangpo. Today is a day of remembrance for the parinirvana of his sacred form in the realm of ultimate reality. On the 1st day of the month of Drozhin, the vows of aspiring and engaged bodhichitta were bestowed together according to the profound view lineage tradition. On the 2nd day, the vows of aspiring bodhichitta were taken in accordance with the vast conduct tradition, originating from Maitreya and Asanga, following the preparatory, main, and concluding sections of the ceremony. On the 3rd day, the vows of engaged bodhichitta were taken through the preparatory, main, and concluding sections, following the teachings of the Jamgon "Ceremony of Taking the Bodhisattva Vows and the Path of the Bodhisattva." On this very day, the 4th, in the early morning, detailed teachings were given on the general precepts of bodhichitta, and in particular, on the four root downfalls, the forty-six secondary downfalls, and other points of discipline, as stated in the "Twenty Verses" and the "Bodhisattva Grounds." Furthermore, citing from the "Prayer of Maitreya," the benefits of bodhichitta, as explained in the "Arrangement of the Tree" and the "Sutra Requested by Paljin," were expounded in detail. Thus, the vows of aspiring and engaged bodhichitta, originating from the two chariot traditions, were successfully completed with gratitude and appreciation.

This morning, at the Bokar Vajradhara Memorial School, the 80th Indian Independence Day was celebrated. In the ceremony, Kyabje Bokar Choktrul Rinpoches and Kyabje Khenchen Rinpoche were present, along with the Director and other important figures of the Bokar monastery, Bokar Shedra, Nunnery and other departments. The students from different houses performed parade, and patriotic songs during the event.

དེ་དང་ཆབས་ཅིག་བོད་ཚེས་ལྟར་༧སྐྱབས་རྗེ་འབོ་དཀར་རྡོ་རྗེ་འཆང་ཆེན་པོ་མཆོག་དགོངས་པ་ཆོས་དབྱིངས་སུ་གཤེགས་པའི་དུས་ཁྱད་པར་ཅན་དང་སྟབས་འཁེལ་བས་ཕྱི་དྲོར་དཔལ་ལྡན་ཤངས་པའི་སྨོན་ལམ་གྱི་ཆོ་ག་གསུང་གནང་མཛད་ཡོད་པ་རེད།

In this year's summer teachings, kyabje Khenchen Rinpoche gave the teachings on the ninth chapter of the Dakpo Thargyan, which had been continued from the previous year. In conjunction with this, following repeated requests from the Bokar Shed-sgrub and its branches, kyabje Khenchen Rinpoche graciously agreed to bestow the bodhisattva vows. He began by explaining the method of obtaining the precious mind of enlightenment through accumulating merit and purifying obscurations. Over several days, he gave the reading transmission of the "Sutra of the Three Collections" and the "Sutra of Great Liberation" and the "Sutra of Realization," along with teachings on purifying negative actions through the four powers. This morning, before the main statue of the Buddha Shakyamuni in the temple, kyabje Rinpoche gave extensive teachings on the Bodhisattva vows according to the tradition of the profound view lineage, as composed by the Jamgon Lodrö Thayé, based on the "Path to Enlightenment" ceremony for generating bodhichitta, with His Eminence Choktrul Rinpoche presiding over the monastic community of the seat, including lamas, tulkus, khenpos, and monks. Additionally, the khenpo and nuns of the nunnery were also present. In the afternoon, as per Tibetan Lunar calendar, coinciding with the special anniversary of the passing of His Holiness previous Bokar Dorje Chang into the dharmadhatu, the Shanga-pa Ritual prayer was recited.

This year, during the Summer Retreat, the Bokar Choktrul Rinpoche, considering the needs and auspicious circumstances, initiated the Dharma teachings at our own seat. At the beginning, he outlined the way the precious teachings of the Buddha spread in the land of India, focusing on the three stages of the Dharma wheel taught by the Buddha and the contributions of scholars and saints. He then discussed the early and later propagation of the teachings in Tibet by the mentors, scholars, and Dharma kings, as well as the dissemination of the eight great lineages emphasizing practice. Particularly, he began the Dharma teachings related to mental training, based on the text "Mental Training in Eight Verses" by Geshe Langri Thangpa, with the commentary by Jachakpa, as a prelude to the life story of Atisha, the torchbearer of the Kadampa tradition, the glorious Atisha.

དེ་ཡང་གདན་ས་འདི་ཉིད་ཀྱི་ཕྱག་རྒྱུན་བཞིན་འདི་ལོའི་དབྱར་ཆོས་སུ་སྡོམ་གསུམ་སྡེ་སྣོད་འཛིན་པ་ཆེན་པོ་བཀའ་དྲིན་མཉམ་མེད་༸སྐྱབས་རྗེ་མཁན་ཆེན་རིན་པོ་ཆེ་མཆོག་གི་ཞལ་སྔ་ནས་ཀྱིས། ༸སྐྱབས་རྗེ་མཆོག་སྤྲུལ་རིན་པོ་ཆེ་མཆོག་གི་དབུས་གདན་སའི་བླ་སྤྲུལ་མཁན་སློབ་འདུས་མང་ཡོངས་ལ་ཐོག་མར། སྣོད་ཀྱི་སྐྱོན་གསུམ་དང་དྲི་མ་དྲུག་སྤངས་ཏེ་སྦྱིན་སོགས་ཕ་རོལ་ཏུ་ཕྱིན་པ་དྲུག་དང་ལྡན་ལ། ཐེག་པ་ཆེན་པོའི་ཀུན་སློང་ཀུན་སྤྱོད་རྣམ་པར་དག་པའི་སྒོ་ནས་དམ་པའི་ཆོས་རིན་པོ་ཆེ་ཇི་ལྟར་འཆད་ཉན་བྱ་བའི་ཚུལ་དང་། འདུལ་བ་གཞི་གསུམ་ལས་དབྱར་གནས་པའི་ཕན་ཡོན་སོགས་སྔོན་དུ་འགྲོ་བའི་སྒོ་ནས། ལམ་རིམ་ཀུན་གྱི་ཕྱི་མོ་མཉམ་མེད་དྭགས་པོ་ལྷ་རྗེས་གསུང་དམ་ཆོས་ཡིད་བཞིན་གྱི་ནོར་བུ་ཐར་པ་རིན་པོ་ཆེའི་རྒྱན་ལས། ལོ་སྔོན་མའི་འཕྲོས་ཞི་བའི་བདེ་བ་ལ་ཆགས་པའི་གཉེན་པོར་བྱམས་པ་དང་སྙིང་རྗེ་བསྒོམ་པའི་ཚུལ་ནས་བཀའ་ཁྲིད་དབུ་འཛུགས་བསྐྱངས་གནང་མཛད་ཡོད་པ་རེད།

Following the tradition of this seat, this year's Summer Dharma teachings were given by the incomparable Kyabje Khenchen Rinpoche, a great holder of the three vows and the three baskets of teachings, to His Eminence the Bokar Choktrul Rinpoche, the lamas, tulkus, khenpos, and the entire monastic community of this seat. Initially, he explained how to teach and listen to the precious Dharma with the three faults of the vessel and six impurities eliminated, and with the six perfections of generosity and so forth, as well as the pure motivation and conduct of the Mahayana. He also spoke of the benefits of the three foundations of the Vinaya, especially the benefits of the summer retreat. Then, starting from the previous year's continuation on cultivating love and compassion as an antidote to attachment to the peace of nirvana, he began the teaching from the Great Equal Dakpo Lharje's sacred text, the Jewel Ornament of Liberation.

Under the immeasurable kindness and grace of our most revered and unparalleled Vinaya holders, Kyabje Khen Rinpoches, through their unparalleled compassion, at this seat, the practice of the three foundational elements of the sacred Dharma of Vinaya, which is inseparable from the Buddha and his teachings, is conducted with utmost purity. Every year, on the waxing moon of the month of Srona, the early summer retreat is observed, as per the traditions of our revered lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, for a period of three months. However, due to scheduling this year, the retreat was initiated yesterday, on the 15th of Chutod month, during the conclusion of the Sojong ceremony, with the appointment of the provider of monastic residence, recitation of the monastic vows, acceptance of the monastic staff, and the distribution of monastic robes. Today, on the 16th, during the regular recitation of the Three Daily Practices, Kyabje Khenchen Rinpoche presided over nine and a half dozen monks, while Kyabje Choektrul Rinpoche presided over a hundred and five novices, as they initiated the 39th summer of this seat, observing the practice of renunciation and study. In particular, Kyabje Choksprul Rinpoche will continue his teaching on the Eight Verses of Mind Training, and Kyabje Khenchen Rinpoche will continue the teachings on the Jewel Ornament of Liberation from the previous year, as scheduled.
