There was a grand festival on at January in the year 1956 with mahabodhi society of India presidentship of Srlankan Buddhist Monk DEBIPRIYA BALISINGH and Utakal keshari HAREKRUSHNA MAHATAB, Ex Governor of Bombay was planted this holy seeding peepal tree with the campus of Buddha Vihar Nuapatna , Tigiria , cuttack ,Odisha . In 1957 the Buddhist council of burma Myanmar visited this place and donated a bronze image of MAHAKARUNIKA BUDDHA along with some funds . In this occasion HAREKRUSHNA MAHATAB (Ex-Governor of Bombay) Installed the Idol of Buddha and Secretary of MAHABODHI SOCIETY of India monk DEBIPRIYA BALISINGH , RADHANATJ RATH , PRAVAT MUKHARJEE, History professor of Utkal University , Bhubaneswar were also present . On 21 January 1973 , Honourable DALAILAMA Had came in our Village Nuapatna , Tigiria, Cuttack,Odisha. On that occasion he offered flowers to lord Buddha's statue and gave dhamma teaching to us . It is the faith of all buddhist that restless sorrow of human and helplessness can be removed by dint of supreme power of this peepal tree. So that we should worship holy peepal trees in many places.
