PRAISE GOD AND SEE
The Word of God says in Isaiah 43:21, “This people I have formed for Myself; They shall declare My praise.” When a king enters his court, there is a herald who goes before him declaring the king’s arrival to the people; God has made us for His glory, and He has said that He is coming soon; our King is coming to take His people to His Kingdom and He has placed us here on earth so that we can declare and proclaim His praise. 1 Peter 2:29 says, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light;” We praise Him for He has saved us and brought us out of the darkness. In Psalm 147:1, David writes, “Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful.” The works of God in our life is mighty; He makes a way for us even when we don’t see a way. The Israelites, when they were running from Pharoah’s army, found themselves trapped, with the red sea ahead and Pharoah’s armies behind them. But God parted the sea and made a way for them to pass on dry land. That’s the kind of God we worship. When Jesus was on this earth, He fed over five thousand people with just a few loaves of bread and fish. (Back in that time, the headcount was typically only taken of the men, but researchers say that there were at least twelve thousand people including men, women and children that ate on that day). Jesus had lifted up those five loaves and two fish and gave thanks to God and honoured Him, He then gave it to the disciples to be distributed amongst the people. And when everyone had finished eating, there were still twelve basketfuls left. That is the power of lifting any situation in the presence of God and exalting His name. When we bring our circumstances in His praise, God changes them to victory.
“I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.” (2 Samuel 22:4) The enemy comes only to steal, kill and destroy. But Jesus came to give life in all its abundance- a victorious life with everything He has in store for us. “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” (Psalm 34:1) David never failed in His life because He was a person who praised God and loved the Lord. Even before being made king, when he tended to his father’s sheep, he praised God. When he had nothing, he still praised God. And when He became king, he praised God even more. And God gave him a kingdom that would never end. That is why Jesus was brought through David’s lineage. The plans of God for our lives are incredible. All we have to do is stay where we are and praise Him, and God will see the rest.
Psalm 48:1 says, “Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised In the city of our God, In His holy mountain.” When the Lord spoke to Moses on the mountain, it appeared as if the mountain was ablaze. And all the people stood at the entrance of their tents and beheld the glory of the Lord.
Today, if there is any veil upon you that the enemy has brought with his lies and deceptions, bring it to the Lord. Draw near to God and lay before him everything that bothers or worries you. May the Lord help you declare His praise and honour. And as you praise and honour Him in your circumstances, you will see a change. As you lift up the name of Jesus, He will put-off every burden that you carry.
May the Lord bless you church!

WE CAN DO NOTHING WITHOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT
As human beings there are things that we do involuntarily, without conscious effort, like breathing. Similarly, even the thoughts that cross our minds come to us naturally; our hearts speak and our minds think; it is a continuous process. There are a lot of systems that are simultaneously at work in our bodies each day. The brain being the centre of control, sources its strength of will and courage from the heart. And also, in the physical, the heart purifies and pumps blood to every part of the body. This how we were designed and created uniquely and intricately by God. But something in us falls short; not on the outside, but on the inside. The condition of our heart, spirit and inner man is more important than our physical well-being. No amount of exercise or a healthy lifestyle can take care of it. We cannot do anything without the Holy Spirit.
As a person, we are known not just by physical appearance but by who we are on the inside. Our inner man is real. We are all spirit beings in an earthly suit- which is our body. Once we pass away, our body will decay but the spirit inside of us will either go to heaven or hell; it depends on if we believed and accepted Jesus or not. And if we had accepted Him, had we lived and grown in our life of salvation.
Just like breathing is important to keep us alive, in the same way, the Spirit is essential to every believer. Of all the gifts given to mankind, the Spirit of God is one of the greatest. Jesus said in John 16:13-14, “13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.” And in Luke 24:49 He told the disciples, “Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” Why was it necessary for the disciples to receive the power from on high? Because only then would they have been able to testify and be a witness for Christ and reach out to people. To testify and share the gospel, we need the Holy Spirit. No matter how much you study or read or acquire knowledge about the Holy Spirit, you cannot get the Holy Spirit. But when you ask of the Lord that you need His Spirit, to teach, lead and work in your life, then you will receive. The Pharisees and Sadducees were people well-learned in the scriptures; they knew all the prophecies about the Messiah; but when He came, they failed to recognize Him and crucified Him instead. They had the knowledge but did not have the heart. Jesus said in Luke 6:49, “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?” Do we live in the same way? The church is impossible without the blessing and power of the Spirit. Christianity without the Holy Spirit is hopeless. And there are churches today that gather and worship but only operate as social organizations.
When we live lives that are led by the Spirit of God, the Spirit pours the heart of Jesus into us. And until we receive this power, we cannot move in the Spirit. You can change your clothes or shower yourselves how many ever times but you cannot be cleansed from within. Matthew 15:11 says, “Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.” In the flesh there already is every kind of filth and evil and for us to come out of it, we need the Holy Spirit of God. There are times when we know the Word and are warned by the Spirit, but we choose to do wrong and grieve the Spirit. We think of Christianity as just a religion or culture but it is a lifestyle- to live as Jesus lived on the earth and follow the Lord wholeheartedly. To live in that power, unction and anointing, we need the Spirit of God. The Spirit teaches us to speak the right word in season; word that can heal hearts and change circumstances. Only with the Spirit can we live in real joy and peace. Paul the apostle says, “for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 14:17) He also said, “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4) He knew how much sorrow, hurt, pain and wounds our hearts carry, from those we know and even those we don’t. Jesus said that if people persecuted Him, they will also persecute us. He encouraged the disciples that when He returns to the Father, He will send the Spirit as our guide. Jesus knew that on this earth He could heal the sick, open the eyes of the blind, give speech to the mute, drive out demons and even raise the dead, but He could not dwell inside of a person to help them live righteously, which is why He we need His Spirit. John 14:17 says, “the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.”
By just being in fellowship and company with fellow believers, we cannot deal with our internal problems of sin, negativity, fearfulness, pride and envy, it is inherent in us- our human nature. And the Holy Spirit changes us from the inside out; as we come closer to God, our lives are changed from glory to glory. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.”
It is not external, but from within. The Lord has given the power of life and death in the tongue. The Word of God says that the mouth speaks out of the abundance of the heart. Do we allow the Spirit of God to influence our words? David wrote, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.” (Psalm 19:14) and “10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.” (Psalm 51:10-11) David knew how Saul had lost his anointing and was tormented by an evil Spirit. No matter how many pastors and servants of God you go to, to be prayed over, they cannot change you on the inside. Only the Spirit of God can search the deep things within and will change you as you become yielded and obedient to Him. The more we bend our knees, the more powerful we become; this is the work of the Spirit in us; our attitude, behaviour, the confession of our mouth, our lifestyle changes entirely.
I was a kick-boxer, weight-lifter and body-builder. I would often become so aggressive during practice that even if someone so much as raised their eyes to look at me, I would get angry and beat them up. But after I came to the Lord, He changed me entirely. He brought patience and peace in my heart. There was a lot of crushing and training for the anger and aggression to be removed and to be matured in the Lord.
Sitting in the classroom of a theological college does not help us know the Spirit of God. But to simply put Him first, converse with Him continuously and practice what He teaches us. If He points out something that needs to be changed or let go, we should be able to accept and change.
Although the disciples were with Jesus all throughout His ministry, He asked them to wait and not leave the city until they received the power from on high. When He told the disciples that the Son of man was to be persecuted and crucified, Peter said that he would not allow that to happen. But Jesus rebuked him saying get behind me Satan. They were worried that their master, His power and their fame would go; the mother of James and John even wanted a position for her sons in the Kingdom of heaven. But unless you move in the Spirit of God, you cannot operate in the anointing of Jesus.
When Jesus was praying in the garden of Gethsemane, He asked the disciples to wait and pray that they don’t fall into temptation, but they slept; when the high priests and the soldiers came to arrest Jesus, Peter took out his sword and cut-off the soldier’s ear, but Jesus rebuked him- that was the heart of Jesus; He taught them patience and love; when Peter walked on water with Jesus, he was fine until he kept his eyes on Jesus, but when His eyes shifted to the storm, he began to drown. So often we are also like Peter, speaking and doing things rashly. When Jesus was arrested, he denied Jesus too.
Jesus taught them so much but couldn’t change them on the inside. However, they were transformed when the Spirit came. They prayed in that upper room and the Spirit descended on each of them like tongues of fire. They spoke in different tongues and people could hear them speaking in their own languages. Some mocked them while some were amazed. But Peter stood before them boldly with the authority, revelation and power of God that he received. He explained the scriptures that spoke of Jesus being the Messiah and of how He would suffer for them and be crucified and then be taken up again. The people knew that they were all unlearned fishermen but they spoke with such knowledge. The people’s hearts were cut open and they repented and asked what they should do. Peter told them to repent of their sins, accept Jesus and be baptized. On that one day 3000 people believed and were added to the church. That’s what the power of God can do.
If you allow the Holy Spirit to come upon you. You will never be fearful. When Jesus was gone, Peter wanted to go back to fishing and others followed Him. But after Jesus was raised from the dead and appeared to them on the shore, He asked them to throw the net on the opposite side and when they reeled it in, there were so much fish that the net tore open. That’s when Peter realized that it was Jesus. Jesus asked Peter if he loved Him and Peter confessed that he loved Jesus three times and this was necessary for He also had denied Jesus three times. He had to love Jesus no longer as just a friend or family but to love Him as the agape. That agape love is available for us. Can we commit our hearts to Him today? If your life is in a mess or if you are in sickness, debt, sorrow or failure; Jesus can come into your life and transform it. Confess your sins and ask Him for forgiveness and for Him to change you from within. Read the Word of God; starting from the New Testament. Pray as much as you can and you will see the Holy Spirit changing you from within.
May the Lord Bless you Church!

OVERCOMING TEMPTATIONS
“12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. 16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” (James 1:12-17) God does not intend for us to fall into sin in any way; He does not tempt us. He only allows for us to be tested. There is a distinction between the two. With testing comes reproof and correction; it builds strength and character. When a potter molds a new pot, he puts it through the fire to bake the clay, only then is it capable of holding water. In the same way, God allows testing in our lives. He does not send temptation but allows for us to be tempted. In the prayer that Jesus taught to the disciples, it says, ‘do not lead us into temptation’. It is not God that leads us into temptation, but it is for us to pray that God keeps us from being tempted. We live in this world where satan is the ruler and everything is under his authority. But those that believe in Jesus and have accepted Him as their savior, they are the ones who are led by the Spirit of God. And being led by His Spirit is the only way to keep ourselves from falling into sin. The Word of God says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17) So if we say that we love God but continue to sin, we are liars and do not truly love God. If we truly follow the Lord with all our hearts, we will not fall prey to the enticing desires of the flesh. Satan is the tempter and deceiver and his only intent is to make you fall. Even when Jesus had gone through forty days of fasting before beginning his ministry, satan tried to tempt Him. When satan deceives us, it is because of our own fleshly desires that we get lured in. And if we give in to these desires, it is births sin which then brings death. And the Word of God says that the wages of sin is death. If we desire to live lives that are holy, pure and righteous, we need to guard ourselves from sin. There are three areas that the Word mentions in which we will be tempted- the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. We are to be careful that we stand strong. God wants us to overcome every temptation with His help. With God leading, guiding and preparing us; when we are in continuous communion with Him; He will remove that desire in us to sin and keep us from falling into temptation.

GOD NEEDS YOUR SKILL
God has created and chosen us for His plans. As long as we live on this earth, we have a purpose of God for our lives. In Exodus chapter 3, while Moses was tending to the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, he saw on the mountain, a bush that was burning but not consumed by fire. It was an angel of the Lord that had appeared in a flame of fire in the midst of the bush. Moses turned to see that great sight. And God called him from the midst of the bush. He asked Moses to take his sandals off for the place that he stood on was holy ground. The Lord said that He was the God of his father- the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. From the very first instance, God called Moses by name. He knows every little detail about us; although He is the creator of the entire universe, He is invested even in our lives and loves us just the way we are.
Moses had been running from his past. He was a prince in Egypt and had also killed an Egyptian man. When Moses was forty years old, it came to his heart to visit his people. And when he saw one of them suffer wrong, he defended his brother and struck down the Egyptian. The next day, when he saw two Israelites fighting, he intervened and tried to reconcile them. But one of the men asked Moses who made him the judge over them and if he would kill him also like he killed the Egyptian. Hearing this, Moses ran and went to the land of Midian, where he lived in the household of Jethro, his father-in-law, for forty years. After these forty years, God called Moses for His purpose. When God spoke to Moses at the burning bush, Moses only responded and the Lord told him everything else. The cry of the people of Israel had reached the Lord’s ears and He told Moses that he would be the one to deliver His people. Moses was hesitant, he made excuse after excuse saying that he could not do it. Exodus 4:1-5 reads, “Then Moses answered and said, “But suppose they will not believe me or listen to my voice; suppose they say, ‘The Lord has not appeared to you.’” 2 So the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.”3 And He said, “Cast it on the ground.” So he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it. 4 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Reach out your hand and take it by the tail” (and he reached out his hand and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand), 5 “that they may believe that the Lord God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared”
Moses did not know what purpose God had in bringing him from Egypt and making him a shepherd. But it was because He was going to lead the children of Israel. When God invests anything in our life, it is with intent. God knew His plan for Moses. He is a God of timing. In His time, He does everything perfectly. He is also a God of great order and peace. There were so many shepherds, but God chose Moses because he knew the ways of the Egyptians. Moses was trained in Pharaoh’s palace; He was well-learned and had knowledge of every kind. He was also trained in war and weapon. And later God used him as a warrior. For you need the heart of a true winner and warrior to lead people. God directs our life because He knows the ultimate plan. And it is our responsibility to prepare ourselves with all diligence. We often don’t realize that it is God who is training us through all the trials and struggles that we go through. As God worked in the life of Moses, He made him humble but direct and clear. Because Moses knew God was with him. And with the very shepherd’s rod that was in his hand, God did mighty miracles.
In another instance, we see God use the slingstone in David’s hand to defeat Goliath. Those that threw the stones were trained to do it with such precision that they did not even miss a hair from a distance. The slingstone was a small weapon to chase birds or predators, but here it was used as a weapon for warfare. David did not come against goliath with a sword or spear, but only with what was already in his hand that he knew how to use and God put His power in it. God used the skill of just a simple slingstone and killed the giant Goliath.
David was also skilled with the harp. As he was tending to his father’s sheep, there was a need for him to play the harp for the King. A servant of King Saul, suggested that a musician be brought to the King to comfort him when he was tormented by the evil spirit. David was known to be a musician and handsome and prudent in speech, so they brought him to play for the King. In the midst of our everyday lives, we do not know when we will be called for the Lord’s work. The Word of God says in Proverbs 22:29, “Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men.” While David was still in the field, he was called to the King’s palace. Previously in the same chapter (1 Samuel 16), he was anointed as King by the prophet Samuel. When David presented himself before Saul, he was pleased with him in all his ways and made him his armor bearer. Can this be said of us? Are we so skillful in our work that even our boss can say this of us? If we are good at what we do, we will be valued and appreciated. When we are the best at our work, we will serve before kings.
When the evil spirit came upon Saul, David played the harp and Saul was refreshed and the distressing spirit would depart from him. In the next chapter, the Word of God recounts David defeating Goliath. His skill was used in war and in spiritual warfare. The slingstone for the physical battle and the harp for the spiritual. David writes in Psalm 144:1, “Blessed be the Lord my Rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle—" The servant who gave report of David to the King also said that he was a man of great valor and a warrior. But David had skill not only physically but also spiritually. He was a worshipper. He was the best in all that he did. He had killed a lion and a bear with his own hands when he took care of the sheep. Even when his brothers and father did not see him as capable of being a soldier, the Lord recognized it. What is in your hand that you can give to the Lord? Whatever skill you have, God can use it for His purpose.
May the Lord Bless you church!

KINGDOM ENCOURAGERS
The Bible recounts so many instances in which the people of God worked together as a team- Paul and Silas, Paul and Barnabas, Moses and Joshua, Joshua and Caleb, David and Jonathan and even the disciples. God has called us also to work as a team, with His spirit. And the message for this week is about ‘Kingdom encouragers’- those that encourage fellow believers in the Kingdom of God. Acts 11:22-25 says, “22 Then news of these things came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch. 23 When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord. 24 For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord. 25 Then Barnabas departed for Tarsus to seek Saul.”
Barnabas had already completed an assignment in Antioch where he encouraged and strengthened the believers in the Lord. He then went off on his next mission to seek Paul (who at that time was still known as Saul). Paul had spent 14 years in waiting; he was secluded and not accepted in Jerusalem. Barnabas went to Paul’s hometown, Tarsus. Acts 11:26 says,” And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.” Barnabas encouraged Paul and took him along. Paul’s ministry from the Lord was among the gentiles and not the jews. Even in our lives, there often is a season of waiting. Although you may be doing everything right or are even the best at what you do, it takes time for people to accept you. As young people, when you start a job or business or move to a new city, it takes a while for people to recognize you. But don’t be in a hurry to be accepted. Even if you have always been up on stage at your home church, don’t go in with the same expectancy in a new place. Jesus taught in a parable that when you go to a feast, you must not sit in the best place, for if one who is more honorable than you is invited, the host will ask you to give him that place and you will have to take the lowest place in shame. Instead, if you humble yourself and take the lowest place, the host himself will call you up higher. Jesus Himself encourages us to be humble. If you want to be successful, humility is the way.
Barnabas humbled himself and went in search of Paul. After having ministered together in Antioch, he then took Paul along with him to Jerusalem. He introduced Paul at the church in Jerusalem testifying of his work for the Lord and his transformed life. Before having met with the Lord, Paul was persecutor of the church. But one encounter with Jesus and his life changed entirely. The Paul who once destroyed churches, now preached about Christ and His Kingdom and signs and wonders followed his preaching. Paul had gone to Arabia for three and a half years and then ministered for eleven years but people did not listen to him. Even after fourteen long years, he was not accepted. But can we be like Barnabas, who saw differently and chose to encourage and accept a fellow believer?
In another instance about the early church in Acts 4:34-37 it says, “34 Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold,35 and laid them at the apostles’ feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need.36 And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus, 37 having land, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.” He sold his everything and gave it at the church, that was the kind of encourager he was. There is another mention in chapter 14 of some special men of God who were very simple yet did something extraordinary because they had the heart to serve. Acts 14:21-23 says, “21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch, 22 strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, “We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.” 23 So when they had appointed elders in every church, and prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed.” These were men of great encouragement. Today in the church there is a lack of people who encourage. When we choose to encourage genuinely out of love, it pleases God.
When the Amalekites had taken captive the wives and children of David and his men, they cried out and wept bitterly. Their whole city was burned and in ruins. David’s men wanted to stone him because they were bitter and furious. They had been sent away by the King from the battle they had gone to face and when they returned, they found that the Amalekites had plundered their whole city. After weeping bitterly, David strengthened himself and went to enquire of the Lord if he would deliver these men into their hands. The Lord assured David that He would be with them and that everything would be restored to them. After David encouraged himself, he was able to encourage his men to get back to war with him. And the Word of God recounts that everything was restored to them in full measure.
Jesus was also an encourager, the greatest in fact. He said to the disciples whom he had called, who were fishermen, that He would make them the fishers of men; from an insignificant profession to the most prominent work and position. What better fame or accolade can we achieve in this life than to serve in the Kingdom of God? The impact that we work for is to save a soul for eternity. Are we people who encourage or discourage? Be that Barnabas who would go the extra mile to seek people who have not been accepted. Encourage the brother or sister that has fallen and don’t put them down but encourage them. Would you be that person of encouragement today?
May the Lord Bless you Church!

FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS
8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8,9) There is a huge contrast in God’s thoughts and our thoughts. In the Book of Haggai, the Lord reminds Israel to consider their ways. In Exodus, we see that Moses asked the Lord to show him His ways that he might glorify the Lord. The people of Israel only saw the mighty miracles and works of God, but Moses saw the ways of God. Even us, as servants and children of God are supposed to know His ways, for His ways show us His instruction. And as we follow instruction, we find success in our lives. But no one like to follow instruction. Even a small child does not like being told what to do. Unless the Lord has worked in our life and we have been put into the discipline of learning and following instruction, it is very difficult to do.
In a sport, the players only follow the instruction of the coach. Even at workplaces, if the employees don’t follow the rules of the company, they can be fired. In the military, rules are kept with complete rigor. In schools, instructions are put in place so that children can learn correct ways and be prepared for the right ways of life. Instructions are set so that everything can function properly. But we find it very hard to adhere to instruction. Even on the roads, we cannot keep traffic rules. But what we don’t realize is that instructions are given as a way for us to succeed. Be it in our personal lives, family or business, if we want success and fruitfulness, we need to keep the instructions that God has set before us.
If a student who goes to write the exam does not carry along his ID or sit in his allotted seat, he cannot write his exam; each seat in the examination hall will have a different specific question paper for each student. While putting together a new electronic device, unless we follow the instruction manual that comes along with it, it will not work. If we are assembling furniture and use duct tape instead of nuts and bolts to hold the pieces together, the furniture will be of no use. Following the instruction manual is so important. And God has given us His Word as the instruction manual for our lives. He has created each of us and He knows what is best for us.
The Word of God gives us crucial instructions and God’s unfailing promises for our lives:
Matthew 22:37-39 says, “37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” The Bible also says, “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,” (Matthew 5:44) It is an instruction so that we can live at peace with God and with those around us.
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” (Joshua 1:8)
“5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5,6)
“I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.” (Psalm 16:8)
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.” (Psalm 23:5)
“The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge.” (Psalm 46:7)
“casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:17)
“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’” (Isaiah 41:10)
“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4)
“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” (Psalm 34:8)
“Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” (Mark 9:23)
“23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:23-24)
“7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” (Matthew 7:7,8) This instruction is a call to prayer. Jesus Himself spent so much time in prayer when He was on this earth and we also need to have such a life of prayer.
Revelation 22:7 says, “Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.” This is given as an instruction and caution to prepare ourselves for the Lord’s coming.
When Jesus was tested in the wilderness, after having fasted for forty days, the enemy came to tempt Him and said to Jesus that if He really was the Son of God, He should turn the stones into bread for Himself. “But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”(Matthew 4:4) This is the importance of the instructions from God.
Are we ready to obey God’s Word and live our lives as He intended for us to?
May the Lord Bless you church!
