St. Francis Xavier Church, Saveriarpalayam Sowripalayam, Coimbatore St. Saveriarpalayam or Sowripalayam is one among the oldest Christian settlements in our Diocese. Fr. Dubois.

Francis Xavier Church is the Church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Coimbatore that stands tall as a major landmark in faith and worship. It is believed that Catholic families settled here way back in the mid 17th century and a church existed here even as far back as in 1650. In 1805, the first church was built by Rev. ayam was formed into a separate parish in 1892, the church was again rebuilt in 1898 and this church existed till 1963. In 1905 the church tower was built and the church bell was installed. The church was again extended and the side aisles were built in 1963. In 1976, the front portico was built and the remaining side aisles were extended on both sides.
