With the advent of technology and in the midst of a flood of information tools both man and machine have become an integral part of the global village. Mired in the web of modernisation have we forgotten our roots, give scant respect to our forefathers and lost faith in ancient scriptures. No, on the contrary as science advances our beliefs in rituals, yagnas and offerings are only getting furthe

r reinforced. And, it is this belief and a zeal to be a tiny part of the transformation process that spurred us to launch ‘Ama Vedic Services.’

'Ama Vedic Services' will serve as a platform to rekindle in the present generation fresh awareness about the vedic practices our ancestors prescribed. The culture and practices prescribed through our Vedas constitute an ocean of precious gems left behind but everlasting, which one can dwelve deep into by understanding and practicing them and realising its immense benefits through rituals. Why the name ‘Ama’, does it ring a bell, may be not, for that we need to dig into the ancient scriptures and connect the dots.

'Ama' is the name of a Gandharva who carries all our Puja and Yagna offerings to the Almighty and our forefathers. Gandharvas or 'Ama' act as messengers between the Gods and us. It is believed that Gandharvas were super human tribe and also the original inhabitants of the Gandhara Kingdom. We derived inspiration from this and christened our humble effort accordingly to bridge the gap. Our vedic rituals prescribe the ways and means of carrying our offerings to God. Our ancestors have set the right path for us to worship and attain the feet of the Almighty through one's good deeds and thoughts. The mode of worship our ancestors formulated, was the performance of sacrifices (Yajna) which included the chanting of Vedic verses, singing of Samans and reciting of sacrificial mantras (Yajus). Yajna involved sacrifice and sublimation of the havana sámagri (herbal preparations) in the fire accompanied by the chanting of the Vedic mantras.

Only plants. Nothing else.

That's what goes into our Pressure Thailam — and every one of them was chosen by someone, generations ago, who knew exactly why it was there.

🌿 Nochchi (Vitex negundo) — the Siddha texts count it among the kayakalpa herbs. Used for generations wherever there is pain and swelling.

🌿 Thulasi — in most Tamil homes it stands in the courtyard, not the medicine cabinet. It is both.

🌿 Thumbai — the small white flower you've walked past a thousand times. Offered to Shiva. Also worked, quietly, in Siddha for centuries.

No shortcuts. No substitutes. The formulation as it was handed down.

Dharma & Tradition, since 2016.
