UMMAL KOODADATHU was birthed in the prayer room during a 3-day year-end prayer gathering in December 2020, as we waited on the Lord and sought His direction for the year 2021. The year 2020 had been one of deep uncertainty and hardship. Prolonged lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic brought physical gatherings to a complete standstill. With colleges functioning online, our campus missionaries were unable to meet students in person, fellowships were disrupted, and ministry across multiple cities remained stalled for nearly two years except through online gatherings and meeting few individuals. Our regular student camps could not be conducted for two years, and the path ahead seemed unclear.
As we stood at the threshold of a new year, we were confronted with many unanswered questions—How will we begin again? How will restoration come? We simply poured out our hearts to God in anguish. In that place of waiting and surrender, God stirred our hearts and anchored our faith in His Word from Romans 4:17:
“He gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist.”
That Scripture became our declaration. In the atmosphere of prayer, this song was born spontaneously as we sang God’s Word back to Him—declaring life, restoration, and new beginnings where everything appeared lifeless. For many hours we kept singing the song until our hearts were gripped by the resurrecting power of this God.
Looking back today, we stand in awe of God’s Sovereign power. He has led us in ways beyond our imagination, far above our capacities and capabilities. What He had purposed was greater than what we could see or understand. UMMAL KOODADATHU stands as a testimony that our God is the God of the Impossible, the One who revives, restores, and brings forth what never seemed possible.
