As a Lily Among Thorns Ministry “A Lily among thorns” is a faith- based Ministry, formed in 1985, as an effort to address the need for personal and group evangelism.

It derives its mission from the words of Christ in the Gospel of John: “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” John 15:16

Her Ministry: “Lily among thorns” focuses on bringing restoration and order into the lives of people through effective, practical strategies designed to address their spiritual needs.
Its programmes include:-
1. Bible -based personal and group counselling
2. Bible Study for home groups, Churches & Institutions
3. Sharing the Word in churches
While its primary objective is end time prophetic teaching, the Ministry places equal importance on intercession and healing. Its programmes are designed to increase one’s knowledge of the Bible, instil a holy fear of the Lord and the need to live a life of holiness in the Lord. “Lily among thorns” is uncompromising in its exposition of Biblical truths. It seeks to ignite the “first love” of people that enables them to worship the Lord in Spirit and Truth, with fear and trembling. The Ministry endeavours to release this vision globally reaching into households and churches worldwide.

Her Ministry Overseas: As early as 1980, the Lord prepared her for ministry overseas, with the words, “I will take you to the five continents and use you among the tribes and the nations.” Since her first trip overseas in 1992, she has travelled to many nations. Between ’93 and ’95 she was used mightily in Muscat and Dubai, London, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands and Pittsburgh, USA. More recently the Lord has opened many doors for her to minister repeatedly in New Zealand, Australia, Vanuatu and Fiji. She has also ministered several times in Malaysia, Singapore and Myanmar.

Her Testimony: Sister Usha Parthasarathy is a walking miracle, having been raised from the sick bed three times. In 1985, an extra growth in the tail bone compelled her to give up her job for a brief spell. The doctors told her she would be a cripple soon, but she was healed as she held on to promises in Isaiah 53. In 1990, she was struck with severe rheumatoid arthritis and had to give up her job for the second time. The prognosis was that there was no known cure and she was given up to die. Her prayer was that her sickness should not put the Lord’s name to shame. During the 28 months in bed, the Lord built her up into a fortress of strength. Through times of personal prayer she asked the Lord to use her more powerfully for the extension of His Kingdom, and He did. Early in 2000, she became paralysed from the neck down and developed an ischemic heart. An MRI scan indicated immediate surgical replacement of three of her crushed vertebrae. Back in bed and in and out of hospital in Bangalore and Chennai, her poor physical condition seemed to affect her faith and spiritual strength, but the Lord raised up an army of prayer warriors. She clung on to Psalm 34:19 & 20 and on the morning of the scheduled surgery the Lord reassured her with the words, “No operation for my daughter.” A mild heart attack postponed the surgery and caused her to be discharged a few weeks later.

Born and brought up in a staunch Brahmin family, Sis. Usha was introduced to Christ through reading a copy of St. John’s Gospel at the age of twelve. Three years later she was given a Bible, which she diligently read for several hours each day, developing a deep desire to live for Christ. His Grace enabled her to walk in holiness. Eleven years later, in 1980, she gave herself completely to the Lord and joined Pastor Charles Aaron, and his “Sharon Assemblies of God” in Chennai and nurtured through her fellowship in the church, its Bible study and Pastoral Counselling. She was further mentored spiritually by Dr. Clifford Kumar and yielded to the Lord’s teaching on water baptism and received the same.
A graduate of the Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Chennai, Sis. Usha pursued a very successful career in the Hospitality Industry, serving in Five Star Hotels in Karnataka and Kerala. Since 1979, when she won her first soul for Christ, the Lord has used her mightily in personal evangelism in her places of work that included managing the running of guest houses for multinational companies in Chennai and Andhra. The Lord soon opened many doors for her ministry in this nation and overseas and her testimony has brought many to the Lord.
