A Tribute from Egmore Wesley Choir
Mrs. Vasanthi Devasahayam had committed herself to Church Music as a life - time calling and this single - minded devotion to the Ministry of Music inspired her to be a powerful chorister in as many Choirs as possible ; In all these committed assignments , her involvement was regular and total , her contribution , vital and substantial due to her sustained and prayerful motivation from within;
She has been the core part of the Egmore Wesley Church Choir for more than 5 decades that as the Conductor I could never consider the Choir complete without her; She has always been a chorister - par - excellence and an exemplary role model for others to follow in her passionate and focused participation in rehearsals , keenness on clarity of music , tonal quality , dictional intelligibility , phrasing accuracy , emotional involvement and expressive singing ; Vasanthi, as she was affectionately addressed by all of us was an integrated personality of a cheerful person, a lively conversationalist, a charismatic and result - oriented leader, an all - rounder , an ideal chorister and a noble soul; Though she has taken a well - deserved bow from earthly singing at EWC, she has, I am sure, joined the heavenly hosts in singing for the God of Eternal praise, glory and honour; I close with a note of gratitude to God who had endowed her with a unique musical sensibility and to Mr. Victor, her beloved husband who was supportive all through her life and encouraged her to contribute in the genre of Church Music to this extent ; We, as the Choir sincerely pray for peace , comfort and consolation from God to the family during this time of bereavement.
Mr. Winfred Chelliah,
