Today, we give thanks for our sisters celebrating their 2026 Jubilees—marking 70, 50, and 25 years of vowed life. We honor their faithful “yes,” their witness of love and service, and the many ways their lives continue to bless our world. Tomorrow, as we observe the World Day for Consecrated Life, we celebrate all who have responded to God’s call with courage, generosity, and enduring love.

OUR LADY OF LOURDES MEMORIAL COMING THIS FEBRUARY 11

As February 11 draws near, we prepare our hearts to honor Our Lady of Lourdes, patroness of the sick and a sign of God’s gentle mercy. Through Mary’s loving presence, we are reminded that healing of body, mind, and soul flows from trusting in God. May this memorial invite us to deeper faith, compassion for those who suffer, and renewed hope.

FEBRUARY 2026 IS A PERFECT MONTH

February invites us into a sacred rhythm of faith, where every day becomes a step closer to God. Each devotion is not a task to complete, but an encounter to live, receiving Christ in the Eucharist, trusting in Divine Mercy, seeking the help of saints, resting in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, and allowing Mary to form our hearts like hers. In this ordinary month, God offers us an extraordinary chance: to sanctify time, to slow down, and to let love shape our days. When we walk week by week with the Lord, even the calendar becomes a path to holiness.

The Church must proclaim Christ “without self-promotion or particularism”, Pope Leo told members of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (DDF).

Addressing participants in the dicastery’s plenary session on Thursday, the Pope said their work “to offer clarifications regarding the doctrine of the Church, through pastoral and theological guidance on often very sensitive issues”, was “of great benefit to the spiritual growth of the holy and faithful people of God”.

He cited documents published over the past two years, including notes on human dignity, Medjugorje, artificial intelligence, Marian devotion and monogamy.

The Priestly Society of Pius X (SPPX) announced it would consecrate new bishops on 1 July, reopening the ultra-traditionalist group’s split with the Vatican after its partial reintegration into the Church in recent years.

According to a communiqué on 2 February, SSPX superior general Fr Davide Pagliarani wrote twice to the Holy See about the need to make new bishops and recently received in return “a letter which does not in any way respond to our requests”.

It continued: “Fr Pagliarani, in harmony with the unanimous advice of his council, judges that the objective state of grave necessity in which souls find themselves requires such a decision.”

Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre founded the SSPX in 1970, and consecrated four of its priests as bishops in 1988 without Vatican permission. John Paul II excommunicated them, but their consecration was termed “illicit but not invalid” since a proper bishop had ordained them.

The SSPX rejects the reforms of the Second Vatican Council and celebrates only the pre-conciliar liturgy. In 1988, it argued the consecrations were permissible under canon law due to a moral and theological crisis in the Catholic Church, which the Vatican denied.
