Mahasu Devta Bulhar

Mahasu Devta Bulhar Mahasu Devta is worshipped in the area of Jaunsar Bawar of District Dehradun and some area of Uttark The people have great faith in Mahasu devta.

Present Mahasu Devta Temple at Bulhar has been rebulit between the year 2009 to 2015. This temple was earlier three storey building which has been demolished and rebuilt as five storey temple which is completed in the month of April 2015.The present temple premises is spread over in an area of almost one acre of land, which comprises of Mahasu Temple, Devi (Jaga) Temple, Dharamshala, Courtyard etc

. Nearby this temple, there were almost 15 to 16 Gaushalas and three houses of bajgi community. Therefore, keeping in mind the cleanliness of the temple, the Temple Management Committee, Bulhar had taken a decison that the Gaushalas within the temple premises and other 14 Gaushalas in the village to be relocated to outskirts of the village. The temple management committee gave Rs 20000 each for shifting of the Gaushalas to the previous gaushala owners. Then, three houses of bajgi community, which were in very pathetic and dilapidated condition had been relocated to a premises nearby to the Primary School in the village. The new cemented houses are constructed for the bajgi's having two rooms, a kitchen and one bathrooom. This is a unique initiative taken by the temple management committee to start its Swachchhata Campaign of the village, which was started in the year 2010. The temple management committee borne all the expenditure to the tune of approximately Rs. 2.5 lac each in construction of the new houses. It is the very first step and attempt to make Bulhar village, a model village i.e. clean, hygienic, ideal and beautiful with a blend of old values and modern amenities. Shri Ratan Singh, IRS has taken this very initiative, whose aspiration is that the culture of this area will stay alive and not only the people of Bulhar village rather the residents of entire Bharam area, Char Khat Khandmandh, Himachal Pradesh and all the nearby areas of Jaunsar Bawar will remain in touch with each other. The architecture of this temple is a mixture of both hills and buddhist architecture. It took six years to build this temple and masons and artisans from the state of Bihar played a key role in its construction. Mahasu Devta is worshipped in the area of Jaunsar Bawar of District Dehradun and some area of Uttarkashi of Uttarakhand and also Shimla and Sirmour districts of Himachal Pradesh. The main shrine of Mahasu devta is situated at 'Hanol', Tiuni in Dehradun district. Mahasu Maharaj is the symbol of faith. It is said that Mahasu Maharaj is a part of Lord Shiva's son Kartik, who is being worshipped by the name of Char Mahasu i.e. four brothers namely 'Botha Mahasu', 'Chalda Mahasu', 'Bashik Mahasu' and 'Pavashi Mahasu', but Mahasu Devta (Botha) is the most admired and being worshipped in this region as well as in Himachal Pradesh. In the temple of Mahasu Devta Bulhar, a statue of Mahasu Devta Botha, which is made of eight metals i.e astadhatu has been enshrined, whose ceremony of 'pran prathistha' has commenced on 15th April, 2015 and concluded on 19th April, 2015. The 5 days long pooja has been performed by 11 priests strictly following the traditional rituals, customs and procedures. Other than Hanol Temple, the statue of Mahasu Devta, made of ashtdhatu, is enshrined only in Bulhar Temple which gives supernatural darshan. Shri Dharam Pal Gargji, Chief Trustee of Dhudeshawar Mahadev Mandir, Ghaziabad had great contribution in making of statue of Mahasu Devta.
