IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
We respectfully inform all Their Holinesses of the Ngagyur Nyingma tradition, the members of the Sangha, and all yogis and yoginis:
As is universally acknowledged, for the Buddha Dharma in general, and especially for the Ngagyur Nyingma tradition, we remain forever indebted to the boundless kindness of our revered Kyabjes of the past. Through the vast aspirations of their enlightened minds and the power of their extraordinary vision and accomplishment, the Ngagyur Nyingma Monlam Chenmo at the sacred site of Bodh Gaya has continued to flourish uninterrupted from its inception to the present day.
Through its continual preservation and development, this Ngagyur Nyingma Monlam Chenmo has become one of the foremost annual assemblies of the Ngagyur Nyingma tradition, bringing immeasurable benefit to the flourishing of the Buddha Dharma and to the peace, harmony, and welfare of all sentient beings. The importance of this sacred gathering is well known to all.
Accordingly, the 38th Ngagyur Nyingma Monlam Chenmo will be convened, in accordance with the established tradition, for ten days, from the 1st to the 10th day of the 12th month of the Tibetan lunar calendar, corresponding to 8–17 January 2027.
We therefore respectfully request all Their Holinesses, all members of the Sangha, all yogis and yoginis, and devoted lay practitioners to kindly arrive on time and participate throughout the entire ten-day Monlam. Your wholehearted participation will contribute to the successful accomplishment of this Great Prayer Festival and to its noble purpose of praying for the flourishing of the Buddha Dharma and for the peace, happiness, and welfare of all sentient beings.

As customary, on the evening of January 26, 2026 (the 8th day of the 12th Tibetan month), during the 37th Nyingma Monlam Chenmo at Bodh Gaya, a Board of Directors meeting was convened to discuss matters related to the Great Prayer Festival.
During the meeting, as the three-year term of the current Chairman, Kyabje Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche, came to an end, Kyabje Gyangkhang Rinpoche was appointed as the new Chairman, and Kyabje Katok Situ Rinpoche was appointed as the Vice-Chairman. The meeting concluded successfully after reviewing the annual report, discussing future projects, and taking the necessary decisions.

Message from His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama

The followers of the Nyingma Tradition, the Ancient Translation School of Tibetan Buddhism in general are gathering annually for Monlam Chenmo, the Great Prayer Festival in the sacred place of Bodh Gaya since 1989. I express my joy in the fact that the new Padmasambhava Buddhist Temple, along with its contents of statues and the like have been built successfully that will serve as a space for the assembly of monks, nuns, and ta***ic practitioners arriving from various countries. I offer my appreciation to all those who were involved in this project.

On top of the successful establishment of these outer physical structures and representations, it is of prime importance to maintain the inner aspects of perfect study, contemplation, and meditation upon the teachings of the Buddha in general, and the Ancient Translation Nyingma lineage in particular, exactly as the sublime masters of the past preserved, disseminated and spread them.

In exile, the crown ornaments of the Nyingma teachings - Kyabje Vajradhara Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, Dudjom Rinpoche, Penor Rinpoche and others envisioned, took great responsibility and made tireless efforts to gradually establish monasteries and institutions and nurture lineage holders. The results of those efforts are clearly visible today. You, the followers of the Nyingma tradition also must follow in the footsteps of these great masters, striving diligently in every way to ensure the aspirations of these masters of the past do not go to waste, and that your endeavours in this regard continue to flourish.

Due to my advanced age, even though I am unable to attend the inauguration of the temple in person, I offer my aspiration prayers and supplications to the Three Jewels for your benefit in this and future lives.

Inauguration Ceremony of the
Padmasambhava Grand Temple
Nyingma Center, Bodh Gaya
Date: 5th Day of the 12th Month of the Wood-Snake Tibetan Year / January 23, 2026
Program Schedule
1. 10:00 AM: Monastics will enter the temple from the left side and take their seats:
• Monks: Ground floor main hall (Buddhas of the Three Times Shrine).
• Ngagpas (Ta***ic Practitioners): Middle floor (Khen-Lop-Cho-Sum Shrine).
• Nuns: Top floor (Avalokiteshvara and Amitabha Shrines). Once seated, the Chanting Master (U-ze) will lead the Seven-Line Prayer, followed by the recitation of the Le'u Dunma (Sampa Lhundrup) and the Guru Rinpoche mantra.
2. 11:00 AM: General guests will enter the main hall through the right entrance and take their designated seats.
3. 11:30 AM: A formal procession (Ser-dreng) will welcome the Chief Guest, Honorable Govenor of Bihar, Arif Mohammad Khan. He will be received at the temple courtyard by:
• H.E. Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche (Chairman, Nyingma Monlam Chenmo).
• H.E. Minling Khenchen Rinpoche (Vice-Chairman).
• H.E. Khentrul Gyangkhang Rinpoche (Vice-Chairman).
4. 11:40 AM: As the Chief Guest and Special Guests arrive at the main entrance, the Chanting Master will signal the assembly to stand. Following the recitation of the Noble Eight Auspicious Verses (Tashi Gyepa), the ceremonial ribbon will be cut, and the temple doors will be officially opened. Musicians (Gyaling players) will lead the guests and High Lamas to their seats.
5. 11:43 AM: The Chief Guest and Special Guests will participate in the ceremonial lighting of the butter lamps.
6. 11:45 AM: Welcome Address by H.E. Minling Khenchen Rinpoche (3 minutes).
7. 11:49 AM: During the recitation of the Pryaer to Budha and the Prayer to the Sixteen Arhats, Tibetan tea and ceremonial sweet rice (Desi) will be served to all guests and the monastic assembly (15 minutes).
8. 12:00 PM: During the tea service:
• Mrs. Deepa Thakur will recite the Heart Sutra in Sanskrit.
• Singer Ms. Karma Tseten and Mr. Raman Maharajan will perform a melodic rendition of the Seven-Line Prayer (10 minutes).
9. 12:10 PM: Keynote Address by H.E. Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche regarding the ceremony (3 minutes).
10. 12:13 PM onwards: Speeches by Dignitaries
• 12:13 PM: Mr. Zipa Tshering, former member of the Nepal Parliament (3 minutes).
• 12:16 PM: Hon. Sonam Lama, Minister of the Ecclesiastical Department, and Public Health Engineering Department, Government of Sikkim (3 minutes).
• 12:19 PM: Hon. Lonpo Tshering, Minister of Home Affairs, Royal Government of Bhutan (3 minutes).
• 12:22 PM: Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, will read a message from H.H. the Dalai Lama (3 minutes).
• Address by the Chief Guest, Honorable Governor of Bihar, Arif Mohammad Khan.
11. Presentation of Awards:
The Honorable Governor of Bihar will present awards of appreciation to the following individuals for their dedicated service to the Nyingma Monlam Chenmo (3 minutes):
• H.E. Khochhen Rinpoche (Former Chairman)
• H.E. Ringu Tulku Rinpoche (Former Chairman)
• Acharya Drakpa Lama (Former Treasurer)

12. Presentation of Souvenirs:
H.E. Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche will present souvenirs to the Chief Guest and dignitaries, as well as tokens of appreciation to the temple construction team (3 minutes):
