--->Editorial Message
As the month draws to a close, todayโs Gospel challenges us to evaluate how we use the gifts and opportunities God has entrusted to us. The Parable of the Talents is a profound lesson on stewardship, responsibility, and the consequences of spiritual complacency.
Jesus calls us to be proactive disciples, not passive observers. Each of us has been given unique abilities, resources, and rolesโwhat matters is not how much weโve been given, but how faithfully we use it. Our reward is not measured by comparison, but by our faithfulness in fulfilling Godโs purpose in our lives.
--->Gospel Reading: Matthew 25:14โ30 (NIV)
โAgain, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them.
To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.
The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more.
So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more.
But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his masterโs money.
After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them.
The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. โMaster,โ he said, โyou entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.โ
His master replied, โWell done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your masterโs happiness!โ
The man with two bags of gold also came. โMaster,โ he said, โyou entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.โ
His master replied, โWell done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your masterโs happiness!โ
Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. โMaster,โ he said, โI knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed.
So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.โ
His master replied, โYou wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed?
Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.
So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags.
For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.
And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.โโ
--->Reflection
This powerful parable speaks of God's trust in us. He gives us gifts not to be hidden or hoarded, but to be invested wisely in service of others and in the growth of His Kingdom. The masterโs joy over the servants who doubled their talents shows that God delights in our faithful efforts, however big or small.
The third servantโs fear and inaction reveal the dangers of living with a mindset of scarcity and doubt. His excuse shows a distorted image of Godโa Master to be feared, not loved. The result is tragic: what was meant to be a blessing becomes a burden.
Let us not bury our talents in the soil of fear or procrastination. Instead, may we be found trustworthy and fruitful, ready to hear those glorious words: โWell done, good and faithful servant.โ
--->Daily Life Application

2. Use Them for the Kingdom: Whether through service, charity, encouragement, or prayer, put your gifts to work for Godโs glory.
3. Avoid Fear-Based Living: Donโt let fear of failure or judgment keep you from stepping out in faith. God honours effort rooted in love and trust.
