Jacobite Syrian Orthodox church members from Kerala residing in various parts of Bangalore began this congregation dedicated to His Holiness Late lamented Moran Mor Ignatius Elias III Patriarch

of Antioch and All the East, in the year 1994. By the grace of God Almighty, this congregation is moving forward in a very constructive and commendable way in the true spirit of christian culture. History

The St.Ignatius J S O church, KR puram, Bangalore was formed by few members of St.Mary's J S O church, Queen's road, Bangalore to fulfill their and nearby believers' spiritual needs at a convenient location. The members expressed their desire to have a church closer to them before the them Vicar and Managing Committee of St.Mary's J S O church who whole heartedly supported the idea. Since there was no premise of our own, we approached Sahayamatha Catholic church, Udayanagar, Bangalore to conduct the Holy Qurbana and were permitted to do so. The first Holy Qurbana at St.Ignatius J S O church, KR puram, Bangalore happened on 9th October, 1994. By the prayers of the faithful and the blessing of our Lord Almighty, three plots of size 30' X 40' were purchased for the church and the foundation stone was laid on 28th April 1996 by His Grace Thomas Mor Themotheos and thereafter the church was consecrated by our Diocesan Metropolitan on 16th February 1997. The church belongs to the Bangalore diocese of Jacobite Syrian Orthodox church (Under the Holy Apostolic See of Antioch and All the East). Our diocese metropolitan is H. Vicar

Rev. Paulose Mangalathu currently serves as the vicar. The church is also blessed with the presence of Rev. Mathews P Samuel. Timings

Sunday : 7:30AM - Morning prayer, 8:30AM Holy Qurbana
Saturday : 7:00PM - Evening prayer

Main Festivals

The main feast of the church and Dhukharono of His Holiness Late Lamented Moran Mor Ignatius Elias III - February every year. Feast of St.Gregorius (Parumala Thirumeni) - November every year.

St. Ignatius JSO Church – Recognition of Talented Students

As part of the St. Gregorios Feast celebrations held on 9th November 2025, St. Ignatius JSO Church recognized and honored our talented students for their achievements. The Holy Qurbana was celebrated by H.G. Mathews Mor Timotheos, who also graciously presented the awards.
