Just a Thought!

Looking at 1 Samuel 2: 11 and 18, we notice the author telling us that Samuel served the LORD / was ministering to the LORD. And between these two verses is a narrative of Eli’s sons and their lifestyles.

One would think the natural successors of Eli would be his sons. But it was not to be! Why?

Several reasons are evident -
They had no respect for the sacred work they were doing.

They had no respect for the worshippers and their sacrifices, which they brought to the temple to be offered to the LORD.

Their priorities were also wrong - they could not wait for the LORD’S portion to be consumed by the LORD before they received theirs. They refused to acknowledge GOD comes first.

The Word is clear, Seek first the kingdom of GOD and His righteousness…. is an explicit command of the LORD.

On the other hand, Samuel was always found ministering to the LORD.

Where are we in this episode? Do we respect the work of the LORD? Do we respect the worshippers of the Almighty and their work for HIM? Who is our priority? Where is the LORD in my list of priorities?

It’s time we look within.

Just a Thought!

Mark 1:41 is a narrative about Jesus and the l***r. After healing him, Jesus explicitly warned the l***r not to tell anyone. But to go show himself to the priest and offer the prescribed sacrifice.

Vs. 45 says, ‘Instead, he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news.

What was the consequence of this one man's disobedience to Jesus warning? Scripture says, ‘As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places.’

Of course, it also says, ‘people came from everywhere for their healing’.

This appears to be good on the surface. However, when we look deep into it … we notice something.

The whole thrust of his ministry, which was preaching about the kingdom of God, got deflected. Read Mark 4:18.

We are not smarter than GOD! If HE says ‘Don’t’, let's not, and if He says ‘Do’, let's get busy with it.

I think there is a caution there…
The LORD can only use those who submit to HIS authority, and the authority he places over us.

Am I that person who gladly says, ‘Speak, LORD, your servant is listening’!!

God does not take disobedience lightly!

Several scriptures point to disobedience having severe spiritual and practical consequences. highlighting it as a violation of God's covenant and a rejection of His authority.

Where are we? In rejection or safe?

Yes, Psalm 145:8 — God is gracious, and slow to anger…. Hello there… but then, let's not ignore the latter part of the scripture ...HE DOES get angry …. HE is only slow and slow is to be understood as HE being patient with us … HE is giving us a long rope.

So, yes…GOD does not take disobedience lightly.

While it is still day… let's get back to the LORD.

Have a happy and blessed day with the LORD.

Just a Thought!

According to 1Sam.3:8,9 Eli the high priest realised that it was the LORD who was calling Samuel. So he instructed him on what he must do the next time he hears the voice.

NOTE: The scripture does not say that Eli told Samuel it was GOD who was calling him.

The next time he heard the voice, he did what Eli said. He repeated the words, and the LORD met with him.

In fact, Scripture says, the LORD came, and stood and called. HE did not speak as HE passed by Samuel. He stood there and talked with the little boy in a way the little boy understood. WOW!

There is something we can catch here. Samuel honoured the authority above him by humbly submitting to his instruction.
What followed? Something amazing.

That night, he was just a little boy assisting in the temple; in the morning, he woke up as the LORD’S PROPHET!

What have we missed in our lives, given our arrogance!

Many believe the lie of the enemy that they don’t have a talent or a gift with which they could serve the LORD. They waste their time (which is also a gift of GOD) feeling sorry for themselves.

The Word is clear on this …

1Peter 4:10 - Just as each one of you has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of God’s multi-faceted grace.

Ephesians 2:10: For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, so that we would walk in them.

We are all gifted … And not just that!!!

The works that GOD would be delighted for us to do are all ready prepared and waiting to get done by YOU.

So hey, step up … get into the secret place, thank the LORD, and let HIM order your steps to the place where your work is waiting for you hands.

Happy labouring in the vineyard!
