𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹/𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘆:
Valentinianism was a second-century Gnostic heresy that denied the true Incarnation of Jesus Christ. It taught that Christ did not receive His humanity from the Virgin Mary, but merely passed through her “like water through a pipe.” According to this view, Mary functioned only as a gestational surrogate, not as the true biological mother of Christ.
This teaching reduces the Incarnation to a mere divine insertion and denies that Christ truly shared in our human nature. For this reason, it was firmly rejected by the Early Church, as it undermines the very foundation of salvation. Sadly, similar ideas have resurfaced in parts of the modern Pentecostal and Evangelical world, where Christ’s true humanity is implicitly denied and Mary is reduced to a surrogate.
𝗦𝘁.𝗜𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗲𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝘆𝗼𝗻𝘀 condemned the Valentinian error, stating:
“They say that He passed through Mary as water through a tube.”
(Against Heresies, III.11.3)
He affirmed the necessity of true incarnation:
“If He did not take flesh from the Virgin, He did not redeem us.”
(Against Heresies, V.1.1)
𝗦𝘁.𝗧𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 likewise wrote:
“He was truly born of the Virgin’s flesh, not passing through her as water through a channel.”
(De Carne Christi, 20)
𝗦𝘁.𝗔𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘂𝘀 explained:
“He took to Himself a body of our nature from the Virgin Mary.”
(On the Incarnation, 8)
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗽𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘂𝘀 (431 AD) affirmed Mary as Theotokos (Mother of God), declaring that Christ is truly God and truly man, born of the Virgin Mary.
This teaching definitively rejects any idea of gestational surrogacy in the Incarnation.
Mary was not a mere vessel or carrier indeed Christ truly received His humanity from her.
𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀 3:15 “The seed of the woman”
𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘀 1:3 “Born of the seed of David according to the flesh”
𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀 4:4 “Born of a woman”
𝗦𝘁.𝗟𝘂𝗸𝗲 1:43 “The mother of my Lord”

The Apostolic faith teaches that:
1.Christ is fully God and fully man
2.He truly received His flesh from Mary
3.Mary is rightly called Theotokos
4.Gestational surrogacy has no place in Christology
5. Denial of this truth revives ancient Gnostic error
Any teaching that reduces Mary to a surrogate or denies Christ’s true human origin proclaims a different Jesus, not the Christ of Scripture and the Church.

𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙪𝙥𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙀𝙣𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙪𝙨.
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbour and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, 𝙇𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙧𝙖𝙮 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙪𝙩𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers and sisters, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

“If a man wants God to hear his prayer quickly, then before he prays for anything else, even his own soul, when he stands and stretches out his hands towards God, 𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙥𝙧𝙖𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙚𝙨. Through this action God will hear everything that he asks.” 𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙩 𝙁𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝘼𝙗𝙗𝙖 𝙕𝙚𝙣𝙤

So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

𝗔𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗢𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝗼𝘅𝘆 𝗦𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 that has to be cured, a sinner is a patient who is in need of healing and restoration. Sin is not seen as a violation of laws but as something that destroys human soul which ultimately leads to the death of an individual. The rottenness of Sin in a human if not checked will spread beyond himself, affecting other lives too. The cure of this sickness can be achieved by Synergy, surrendering and actively participating in the Energies of God, transforming the individual into the very likeness of God.
