A Brief history of the Parish
The present St. Alphonsa parish began as a centre in the City Area in December 1996. Emmanuel Pothanamuzhy of Mananthavady celebrated the Eucharistic liturgy and dedicated the centre to then Blessed Alphonsa, in the presence of the vicar Fr. Ante Thekkudan of St. Thomas Parish and Trustee members. Francis Kanichikattil of Dharma ram College was appointed priest in ch
arge of the centre in June 1997. He served the centre till 2007. In 2007 Fr. Binoy Chekkothanthamalikayil was appointed the priest in charge of the centre. Binoy, Fr. Mathew Anatharackal served the parish as priest in charge till July 2011. In 2011 the centre could realize a long cherished dream of having an own place of worship with the generous support of Fr. Mathew Koikkara, the parish priest of St. Thomas Forane Church and its parishioners. On 1″August 2011 the centre was raised to a full fledged personal parish by Archbishop Bernard Moras and Fr. Thomas Kollamparampil, CMI was appointed its parish priest. Joy Kakkanattu CMI, was appointed parish priest on 01 July 2012 instead of Fr. Thomas Kollamparampil. Floating Students & Bachelors
