One of oldest Lord Hanuman temple in Bangalore is Sri Gali Anjaneya Swamy Temple situated on Mysore Road in Byatarayanapura suburb of Bangaluru city belongs to Bangalore district in the state of Karnataka, India.
Saint Sri Vyasaraja, Rajaguru of Vijayanagar Empire, has installed 732 idols of Lord Anjaneya in various locations of south Indian states. It is believed that Sri Vyasaraya established this idol in year 1425 at the convergence of two Rivers namely Vrishabhavathi and Paschima Vahini and it has a history of close to 600 years.
Lord Hanuman is more popular as ‘Anjaneya’, son of Anjani Devi, in southern part of India.
As per legends, once the idol of Lord Anjaneya was open to Gali (air) therefore the name Gali Anjaneya. It is also believed that since Lord Hanuman is son of Wind God hence the idol here is christened as Gali Anjaneya.
You can see the tall Rajagopuram (entrance tower) at entry of the temple and have darshan of Lord Ganesha and Venugopala Swamy. Once you pass the entrance you can see and offer prayers to Sri Rama Parivara and Sri Satya Narayana. The main attraction, Sri Gali Anjaneya Swamy is seen facing to the Rama Parivara.
