LOCKDOWN VBS 2020
THEME: CONQUERING FEAR THROUGH FAITH
Lockdown is a state of isolation and restricted access. When our souls are locked down, we are isolated from those who can help us. A locked down soul restricts the access of the Holy Spirit because of stress, fear and anxiety.
Fear is a formula for failure:
In Exodus 14:1-6, we see that the Israelites who had seen God’s mighty hand when he inflicted the ten plagues on Egypt & delivered them from slavery should have been on the pinnacle of faith when they left Egypt. However, that was not the case. When they saw the Red Sea in front and the Egyptian army behind, they froze with fear and complained and murmured against Moses. The Israelites stand as an example to show what fear can do to us if we let it replace faith in our lives.
Fear is something which grips everyone notwithstanding the age of the person. Preschool children usually fear being separated from their parents; they may also be afraid of large animals, dark places, masks, and supernatural creatures. Older children may worry about death in the family, failure in school, and events in the news such as wars, terrorist attacks, and kidnappings. Adolescents have sexual and social anxieties and concerns about their own and the world's future. These anxieties become a problem only if they persist and cause serious distress, destroy family harmony, or interfere with a child's development or education.
How to replace Fear with Faith:
Phil. 4:6, Paul says: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
