MANGALIK DOSHA

As per birth chart of Vedic astrology, when malefic planets like Kuja (Mars), Shani (Saturn), Rahu, and Ketu occupies certain positions, it creates Doshas (malefic results). Vedic Astrology advocates various doshas such as Kala Sarpa dosha, Pitru dosha, Naadi dosha, Kuja Dosha, etc. There are certain conditions for each of these doshas to form. The nature and period of impact of these doshas vary from one another. Some gives their influences for a short period of time, while others could harmfully impact individuals for a loner period, extending upto many years, including life time.

Accordingly, there is Mangal dosha (name will be vary in different part of country such as Sumangalik dosha, Angaraka dosha, Bhom dosha, kuja dosha, chovvai dosham, chovva dosham etc), which is due to unfavourable position of planet mars in horoscope and that can cause problems like delays in getting married, health issues to partner, bitter acrimony, enmity among couples and untimely death of partner etc… If the placement of planet Mars happened in the 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th houses from the ascendant /lagna or Moon or Venus, then it is called mangalik dosha.

However, this isn’t the only condition to form the Kuja dosha; there have to be certain other conditions to trigger this malefic formation. If Mars is placed in the 7th or 8th house, then the possibility for Manglik dosha is severe.

This dosha leads to an abusive marriage in terms of verbal, physical & emotional attacks, lack of spiritual growth etc ., if proper remedies are not performed in due time.

Therefore, mangalik dosha needs to be seriously considered during the time of marriage. Compatibility, (graha samiyam ) means position of all planets in both charts needs to be keenly matched for success of a marriage.
