HOME: It is said that in the time of " samudra manthan " the water of the ocean was poisoned . To save the world from the dangerous pollution Deva Di Deva shiva drunk the poison known as " Garal" and saved the world . That is why He is called NILKANTHA.
To rescue the poisonus effect MAA TARA feeded shiva (NIL KANTHA ) with Her breast-milk and soon He recovered .This MAA TARA is known as NILSARASWATI . Her other names are AKJATA and UGRATARA .
In Tarapith everyone has a chance to see Her idol.She worshiped there as AKJATA, UGRATARA or NILSARASWATI .
It is for general information that NILSARASWATI is not the SHIVANGI TARA. She is not the second Mahavidya out of ten Mahavidyas. Her Mantra "HRIM STRIN HUM PHAT" gives succes and prosperity . Her another Mantra " HRIM HRIM STRIM HUM PHAT" gives all round success to the worshiper . " OMM HRIM STRIM HUM PHAT SRIMAD AKJATE BAJRAPUSPAN PRATICHHA HUM PHAT SHWAHA " is the Mantra of AKJATA .
APPEARANCE : The Goddess Nil Saraswati (MAA TARA) is standing upon a co**se .
She has four arms . On her two right hands She has a knife and a sword . She holds a sacrificial knife (chopper) and a lotus with Her left hands . There are tiger-skin in Her hip and a garland of skulls in her neck . On Her head She has yellow coloured and matted hair and snake symbolising Akshovya Rishi on Her fore head .She is short in size and large bellied.She looks fearfull for Her hanging tongue .

Maha Mrityunjoy is one of the special form of Lord SHIVA who is also known as SATCHITANANDA in Ta**ra. Not only that He is the creator of Ta**ra . He is as larg as Vash and silver -white in colour. His head are adorned with fine Moon light . His body is brightend with Jewlls. Four hands are equipped with an axe , musk , boon and assurance of safety seated on a lotus ,wearing skin of a Tiger.
He is the first God in universe, seed of the universe, root of the creation saviour of all sorts of advercity and obstacles. He has five heads with matted hair , three eyes in every face ie. three eyed . His third eye signifies the giver of knowledge which can destroy ignorance and releases us from cycle of death and rebirth.

এটি যে অবশ্যই দক্ষিণেশ্বরে মা ভবতারিণী মায়ের মন্দির এতে নিশ্চয় কারো সন্দেহ নেই। এই ছবিটি ১৮৫০ সালের দিকে ফ্রেডেরিক ফেইবিগের (Frederick Fiebig) তোলা। ছবিতে দেখতে পাচ্ছেন তখনো মন্দির তৈরির কাজ চলছে। ১৮৪৭ সাল থেকে ১৮৫৫ সাল পর্যন্ত সময় ব্যায়িত হয় এই মন্দির নির্মানে। অনেক প্রাচীন ছবি।
