पटना जंक्शन बम हमला: 1989 में पटना जंक्शन पर नेताजी नगीना बाबू पर एक जानलेवा बम हमला हुआ था। इस घटना ने पूरे बिहार की राजनीति में हड़कंप मचा दिया था।

स्वर्गीय नगीना राय बिहार सरकार में 4 बार मंत्री और 3 बार विधायक (MLA) भी रहे। उन्होंने कृषि और सहकारिता जैसे महत्वपूर्ण विभागों की जिम्मेदारी संभाली थी।

​काली पांडे से प्रतिद्वंद्विता: नगीना राय और गोपालगंज के एक अन्य दिग्गज नेता काली प्रसाद पांडे के बीच की राजनीतिक और व्यक्तिगत दुश्मनी उस दौर में काफी मशहूर थी। 1984 के चुनाव में काली पांडे ने निर्दलीय प्रत्याशी के तौर पर नगीना राय को हराया था, जो उस समय की बड़ी राजनीतिक घटनाओं में से एक थी।

गोपालगंज के गोपालपुर क्षेत्र से आने वाले नगीना राय की गिनती अपने समय के "स्ट्रॉन्ग मैन" (दबंग नेताओं) में होती थी। उनका स्थानीय प्रशासन और जनता पर गहरा प्रभाव था।

नगीना राय की हत्या 10 अप्रैल 1991 को लोकसभा चुनाव के दौरान कर दी गई थी। इस हत्याकांड ने बिहार से लेकर दिल्ली तक की राजनीति को हिला दिया था। उनकी मृत्यु के बाद गोपालगंज की राजनीति का एक बड़ा अध्याय समाप्त हो गया
