ed Baba Deep Singh Ji in charge at Damdama Sahib Ji (Damdami taksaal). During the clash, one of the Mughul commanders, Jamal Khan, attacked Baba Deep Singh Ji. As they fought, both men swung their weapons with great force, leaving both of their heads separated from their bodies. After seeing this scene, a young Sikh warrior called out to Baba Ji, reminding him of his vow to reach Sri Darbar Sahib Ji . Upon hearing this, Baba Deep Singh Ji immediately stood up, holding his head on his left palm while holding his khanda upright in his right hand. He then continued fighting and moving towards Sri Darbar Sahib Ji. Upon seeing the sight of Baba Deep Singh Ji, most of the men in the Mogul army fled away in terror. Baba Deep Singh Ji was able to continue fighting and reached Sri Darbar Sahib Ji . He bowed his head at the prikarma (rectangular walkway) of Sri Darbar Sahib ji and lay there as a martyr. The spot where Baba Deep Singh's ji head fell is marked in the Golden Temple complex, and Sikhs from around the world pay their respects there. Baba Deep Singh's ji Khanda (double-edged sword), which he used in his final battle, is still preserved at Akal Takht sahib ji (where 2 nishan sahibs on the right)

Martyrdom of a Scholar (Baba Deep Singh)Gurdwara Shahid Baba Deep Singh, Dist. Amritsar :
The great Sikh scholar and martyr Baba Deep Singh was mortally wounded here. In 1762 the Afghan invader Ahmed Shah Abdali ordered the Golden Temple blown up and the Sacred Tank filled in. Baba Deep Singh the greatest Sikh scholar of his time took up the sword on a mission to restore the sanctity of the Golden Temple. He along with five thousand faithful Sikhs fought against the Muslim forces of Jahan Khan. Although heavily outnumbered the Sikhs fought bravely. Baba Deep Singh was fatally wounded in the neck(head cut off) but had vowed to die in the precincts of the Golden Temple. Although mortally wounded Baba Deep Singh was able to continue fighting, while carrying his head in one hand, until he was able to make his way to the Sacred Pool of the Golden Temple where he finally expired. It is said- If you go to this gurdwara with a clean heart and with truly god in your mind- you will get anything you ask for.

''ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਮੰਗਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੱਤ ਮੋਹਰੇ ਰੱਖਾ ਅਰਜ਼ੀ,
ਕਿਹਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਦੇਣਾ ਏ ਸਭ ਦਾਤੇ ਦੀ ਏ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ,
ਸਭ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੀ ਏ ਕੁੱਝ ਵੱਸ ਨਾ ਤੇਰੇ-ਮੇਰੇ,
