Gurudwara Akalsar Sahib is situated in village Khara about 4 km from Sarhali on Tarn Taran - Harike road. Sant Dan Singh Ji the elder son of mother Pratap kaur and father late Sham Singh was born on 9 dec 1906 at Khara. As his mother was of religious and social working nature, so Baba Dan Singh Ji also adopted her way and took keen interest in helping others, reading religious books in addition to his studies. Babaji passed his high school from Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa high school, sarhali and graduated from Khalsa College, Amritsar.
His grandfather Rasaldaar Natha Singh who was in army and was an outstanding player of polo, got him an appointment as an inspector in police at Lahore but, babaji was not happy and left the job. Later he was appointed in Indian Railways. Again he left the service and came back home.
After a stay of few days at home, he went to Anandpur Sahib where he met Baba Jawala Singh Ji, Nand Singh Ji, Attar Singh Ji, Dhyaan Singh Ji. After meeting the saints he was so impressed that he changed his idea and started worshipping god in a kachha room on the outskirts of the village. He gave respect to all the all other religions along with his own. He faced many ups and downs in his life but had faith in god and never cared for such difficulties.
Baba Dan Singh Ji left for his heavenly abode on 12 May 1966. After his death the village people and his followers looked after his kutia(the kachha room) and started to celebrate his aniversaries every year.
In 1990 people asked Baba Baldev Singh Ji the younger son of Babaji to take the charge of the place. A committee was formed and construction of the Gurudwara started.
The construction was completed in 2005 and 100'th aniversary of Baba Ji was celebrated in 2006
