Maximilan Kolbe Church, Kanjiramchira, popularly known as Mangalam church, was a small substation of the parish of Thumboli when it was handed over to the Salesians by His Lordship, Rt. Chenaparampil, Bishop of Alappuzha, in the year 1998. ion is underdeveloped and the people in general are uneducated and hence subject to injustice and oppression. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, Alappuzha was blessed by the gracious visit of Most. Thomas Menamparambil SDB, the Archbishop of Guwahati, on May 14. The large number of people who had come for the Friday Evening Adoration and Mass were delighted to see an Archbishop in their midst and they received him with great joy. They were taken up with the simple and unassuming ways of this Salesian Archbishop. Fr.Joseph Thekkel, the Parish Priest, introduced the Archbishop and welcomed him to the parish community. The Archbishop addressing the parishioners expressed his happiness at the fast growth of the parish and congratulated the Salesians for their dynamic and sacrificing presence in the parish. He exhorted all to co-operate fully with the Salesians here so that this parish will grow and develop even more.
