Jesus Youth Rajasthan

Jesus Youth Rajasthan A MISSIONARY MOVEMENT AT THE SERVICE OF THE CHURCH Though not an actual community, Jesus Youth is a network of small but vibrant groups of young people.

Jesus Youth (JY) is an international Catholic youth movement with a Charismatic spirituality and a focus on youth evangelization. Technically speaking, JY is an international private association of the faithful of all states of life, with juridical personality, governed by the present statutes in conformity with canons 298 - 311 and 321 - 326 of the Catholic Code of Canon Law. On 6 April 2016, JY

was recognized as an ‘International Private Association of Christian Faithful of Pontifical Right’ with juridical personality in Canon Law by the Pontifical Council for the Laity. The strength of the movement is its special focus on a Jesus centred life, beginning with an experience of God, nourished by prayer, the Word of God, the Sacraments and fellowship and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with others, especially the poor. In their own life situations, they strive to give time to the Lord, responding to the challenges of today’s world in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Y.O.U. Two Day Youth Retreat

82 youth from different parts of the diocese of Ajmer gathered in Naveenta Pastoral Centre at Madar on 15th and 16th of February 2025. Fr. Rajan Sandhu, a young priest from Gurugram-Delhi diocese was the resource person, who was assisted by senior JY members of the diocese.

The program was inaugurated by extending a floral welcome to the resource person and the newly appointed JY Chaplain, Fr. Amit Roshan. Lively music and action songs conducted by Deepak and Balveer followed by a time of worship set the mood for a fruitful retreat. After a time of preparation, the participants were sent for confessions and a time in front of the blessed sacrament. Before going to bed Fr. Rajan guided the youth in being in the state of grace.

The next day, after morning Praise & Worship and a short session on personal prayer, the participants practiced sitting quietly in the presence of the Lord for a personal time of prayer. This was followed by an introduction session of the Jesus Youth movement where senior JY members described various aspects of the movement briefly.

The climax of the retreat was a pilgrimage to Karunalaya. The youth joined the celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. The holy mass was celebrated by the ecclasial administrator of the diocese, Bp. Oswald Lewis and constellation of priests. With a fellowship meal all dispersed to their respective places.

We thank God for his guidance and grace during the program. Also special thanks to Fr. Amit Roshan (Chaplain), Fr. Rajan (Resource Person), Fr. Santosh (Director of Pastoral Centre), Mr. Yash George (Diocesan Youth President), Ms. Muskan Rawat (DEXCO member) and all senior JY members, namely Mr. Anand (coordinator), Mr Deepak Francis, Mr. Balveer Rawat, Mr. Melvin Stanley (Shankey), Mr. Alan Michael, Mr. Raymond Sunni.

New Chaplain for Jesus Youth Movement

The Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Ajmer, Bishop Oswald Lewis, has announced the appointment of Fr. Amit Roshan as the new Chaplain for the Jesus Youth (JY) movement in the diocese. He succeeds Fr. Raymond Fernandes, who led this pious association for two separate terms, from 2008 to 2010 and 2022 to 2025.

A handover ceremony took place at Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Ajmer, on January 26, 2025. The event was officiated in the presence of both priests and a few senior Jesus Youth members. It began with a short prayer service, followed by the felicitation of Fr. Raymond and his message to the gathering. Fr. Amit was then welcomed, after which he shared his vision and plans for the movement’s growth.

Both priests expressed concern over the declining number of members and activities within Jesus Youth. They emphasized their commitment to reaching out to youth across all deaneries in the diocese, offering them a vibrant, Christ-centered lifestyle through the movement. A concrete plan was drawn up for the coming months, outlining doable tasks to ensure the revival of dynamic Jesus Youth groups in all parishes.

Fr. Amit Roshan, the newly appointed Chaplain, is a son of the soil—a dynamic and zealous young priest who has been associated with the movement since his formative years. As he takes on this responsibility, we pray that the Lord may guide and inspire him in his mission.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Raymond for his dedicated service and wish him God’s blessings in all that He has planned for him.

JaGo Rajasthan
November 18 & 19, 2023
Madar, Ajmer

Recently Jesus Youth India organised its national conference in Bangalore with the name 'JaGo' which was attended by more than 17000 people from all parts of the country. From Rajasthan also around 70 participated in this mega event. All of them returned with a wonderful experience and a zeal to share Christ to others.

To cater to this desire, Jesus Youth Rajasthan organised a local gathering called "JaGo Rajasthan" on 18th and 19th of November 2023 at Naveenta, Pastoral Centre, Madar, Ajmer. The aim was to provide a platform to the JaGo India participants to share their experiences with those who couldn't go for the National Conference at Bangalore. Around 40 youth gathered for this event from different corners of Ajmer diocese.

Resources for the program were Mr. Vinod Kumar from Delhi, Mr. Johnson Pillai from Baroda and Mr. Shibu Devasia from Jodhpur. They were welcomed in a short inaugural ceremony. After which the participants were mixed up by some ice breaking songs and activities. This was followed up by sessions that explained to them their purpose in life and what dose the Church expect from us. Keeping this as the theme, adoration was conducted. After meals participants shared their experiences with lots of fond memories.

Sunday morning began with praising God. After breakfast, the six pillars of Jesus Youth were explained and practiced. A short panel discussion was conducted to know more about the movement, how it originated, what does it do and what are the usual programs conducted for the spiritual growth of its members. Holy Mass followed which was celebrated by the chaplain, Fr. Raymond. A short brainstorming session after this encouraged the participants to initiate prayer groups in their parishes and organise small events. With devine grace, these plans may take shape.

We express our deep gratitude to Bishop Pius T. D'souza, Bishop of Ajmer for his love and support, Fr. Raymond Fernandes, chaplain of JY Ajmer for his motivation, prayers and trust. We thank Fr. Alok, the Director of Pastoral Centre for providing the venue, stay and meals, Sr. Swapna MSA for her presence and encouragement. May God bless us all.

New Initiative!
For the last 2 months members of Jesus Youth Ajmer are conducting prayer meetings in Sophia Girls college every alternate Saturdays evening. The initiative was inspired when the MSA congregation sisters who run the college invited us for the same.
We hope this is just the beginning and that this association would go a long way. And more such new initiatives take shape. The Lord is moving!
