Weekly summary from the Temple Mount
Parshat Trumah
February 11-17, 2018
379 Jews ascended the Temple Mount this week in purity. This is an improvement of 29% compared to this week last year. Then, 294 Jews ascended the Mount.
Many of the people who ascended the Mount remarked apon the improvement in the police's treatment this week as well. On the rainy days the police let the Jews walk through the covered walkway leading to the Mount. In other instances they gave the ascenders hot drinks, who thanked the police. They even even silenced the Waqf and ignored their complaints, who were against all this.
In another instance, the police let an older woman exit via the entrance gate to save her from walking the whole way. They also let a Jew enter the Mount after the entrance times ended.
📌 Groups
A group of students from the Yeshiva of Otniel, and a group from the Yeshiva High School of Zfat ascended the Temple Mount this week.
A group of Jews from a course for counselors at 'Yad Ben Zvi' ascended the Mount on Tuesday. Most of them ascended the Mount for the first time with Halachic guidance, and enjoyed a Jewish tour of the Mount, for the first time in the history of Yad Ben Zvi. This happened because of their request for Halachic guidance, of which there is more awareness nowadays.
Another of 40 students from the Erez Mechina ascended the Mount, along with 50 students from a school in Modi'in. Both of these were in the tourist groups.
📌The Waqf provocations
The Waqf continue to try to pick fights and ignite arguments on the Temple Mount. Ascenders of the Mount have reported this week at least 2 instances that the Waqf were called together to provoke the groups of Jews on the Mount. Unlike Rosh Chodesh Shvat (a month ago), the police successfully removed them from the Jewish groups.
In one instance, the Waqf rioted when Jews filmed them as a response to them filming the Jews. When the Jews exited the Mount, the police took details from two of the people in the group, and banished one of them from the Temple Mount until he spoke with the police chief of holy places. The police decided not to speak to him and he returned to the Temple Mount that same morning.
In the afternoon, the Waqf tried once again to provoke a group from the Mikdash Yeshiva, that ascended the Mount with their Rabbi, Rabbi Yisrael Ariel. The police removed them from the Jews successfully this time as well. The group ascended the Mount 20 minutes late (out of the single hour that Jews can ascend the mount in the afternoon). The people in the group complained that Rav Ariel was pushed along and wasn't allowed to remain because the police said that they needed to let another group on the Mount. In the end they left the Mount a few minutes after the end of the opening hour, and the police didn't let another group enter the Temple Mount.
📌 Celebrations
3 grooms, 2 brides, and 5 Bar-Mitzvah boys ascended the Temple Mount this week to celebrate.
📌Arrests
Besides the two Jews that the police took their details this week, there were no arrests.
