*As We Digest The News About The Club, A Thought For Our Community*

Over the past few months, whenever The Scoop has posted about random local restaurants, we’ve received messages from followers complaining about different establishments, the service, an order that went wrong, a bad experience, or something else they were unhappy about.

And frankly, we’ve sometimes been disturbed by just how much negativity gets thrown at our local restaurants.

A kosher restaurant is a risky business. It is a capital-intensive venture with enormous costs & long hours. Nobody is getting rich simply because they started serving food.

Does that mean restaurants shouldn't provide good food and good service? Of course not. But things go wrong. You may even had a genuinely bad experience.

But not every bad experience needs to make the owner, manager, or person behind the counter feel horrible over it.

When restaurant owners constantly hear negativity, eventually some of them are going to decide that the headache isn't worth it.

Maybe there's something we can take from today's news: let's try to be a little more understanding.

Because if we want kosher restaurants in our community, we have to create a community where people actually want to open them.

*Rabbi Shmuel Silber will be Named Executive Vice President of the Orthodox Union*

Baltimore Scoop has learned that the Orthodox Union will appoint Rabbi Shmuel Silber, longtime Rav of Suburban Orthodox Congregation in Baltimore, as its new Executive Vice President, succeeding Rabbi Moshe Hauer, zt”l.

Rabbi Silber will assume one of the most prominent rabbinic leadership positions in American Orthodox Jewish life, providing Torah, hashkafic and halachic leadership for the OU.

We wish Rabbi Silber tremendous hatzlacha as he takes on this enormous responsibility and continues the important work of strengthening Jewish life across the country, following in the footsteps of Rabbi Moshe Hauer, zt”l. Baltimore is proud to see one of its own step into this major national leadership role.
