Army Chaplain (1st Lt.) Shalom Orenstein and his wife Chaya Mushka recently welcomed their infant son into the Covenant of Abraham at Fort Riley, Kansas.

The Brit Milah — circumcision — took place at the storied military installation, which is home to the First Infantry Division, the “Big Red One”. Orenstein, a chaplain endorsed by Chabad-Lubavitch’s Aleph Institute, was recently assigned to the division.

Performing the Brit Milah was Rabbi Schneur Perman of Chabad of Leawood, KS. Rabbi Mendy Wineberg of the Chabad House Center of Kansas City officiated as the newborn was named Avraham—a testament to the everlasting impact of the first Jew, who paved the way for Jewish outreach around the world.
