According to the Torah, Aaron blessed the people, and YHWH, promises that "They (the Priests) will place my name on the Children of Israel (the Priests will bless the people), and I will bless them" (the Priests, in turn, will receive G-D's Blessing.). The Jewish Sages stressed that although the priests are the ones carrying out the blessing, it is not them or the ceremonial practice of raising their hands that results in the blessing, but rather it is God's desire that His blessing should be symbolised by the Kohanim's hands.

Even after the destruction of the second Hebrew Temple in Jerusalem, the practice has been continued in Jewish synagogues, and today in most Jewish communities, Kohanim bless the worshippers in the synagogue during special Jewish prayer services

Getting ready for tomorrow...

ברחבת הכותל המערבי נערכים לברכת הכהנים המסורתית, במעמד הרבנים הראשיים לישראל ורב הכותל המערבי והמקומות הקדושים, ולעלייה לרגל מרחבי הארץ במהלך חול המועד הסוכות תוך הקפדה על בריאות הציבור ושמירת הנחיות משרד הבריאות.
בהתאם למתווה שגיבש קבינט הקורונה, ההגעה לכותל המערבי בחג הסוכות תשפ"ב תתאפשר לכלל הציבור מרחבי הארץ ללא תו ירוק.
כדי לעמוד בצפי להגעת ציבור גדול מכל רחבי הארץ למעמד המיוחד של ברכת הכהנים המסורתית, הוחלט כי בשנה זו תפוצל ברכת הכוהנים לשני מעמדים שונים. מעמדים אלו יתקיימו יום אחר יום במטרה למנוע צפיפות.
הכניסה בזמן ברכת הכהנים תוגבל בחלוקה למתחמי תפילה (קפסולות).
המעמדים יתקיימו וישודרו בשידור חי בעמוד הפייסבוק שלנו בימים:
רביעי יום א' של חול המועד- ט"ז תשרי
חמישי יום ב' של חול המועד- י"ז תשרי
תפילת שחרית 8:45
ברכת כהנים ראשונה (שחרית) 9:15
תפילת מוסף 10:00
ברכת כהנים שנייה (מוסף) 10:15
לתשומת לב!
הכניסות לעיר העתיקה ולכותל המערבי ייסגרו במידה ויהיו עומסים.
הגבלת הקהל באחריות משטרת ישראל ויש להישמע להוראות המשטרה.
הציבור שמתכוון להגיע למעמד ברכת הכהנים הראשון ביום רביעי, מתבקש שלא להגיע אף למעמד ביום חמישי - על מנת שיתאפשר לכל המעוניינים להשתתף באירוע.
הציבור מתבקש להישמע להנחיות הסדרנים לטובת בריאות פוקדי הכותל המערבי.
יש לעקוב אחרי הפרסומים וההנחיות המתעדכנות מעת לעת.
