اتِّباع يسوع (English follow)
" فَقَالَ لَهُ يَسُوعُ: «ٱذْهَبْ. إِيمَانُكَ قَدْ شَفَاكَ». فَلِلْوَقْتِ أَبْصَرَ، وَتَبِعَ يَسُوعَ فِي ٱلطَّرِيقِ." (مرقس 10: 52)
كان برتيماوس الأعمى جالساً على جانب الطريق يستعطي عندما سمع أن يسوع الناصري يمر من هناك. وإذ أدرك أن هذه فرصة لا تعوض، بدأ يصرخ طالباً الرحمة. ورغم محاولات الناس لإسكاته، استمر في الصراخ بإيمان وإلحاح حتى استجاب له يسوع. وما إن نطق يسوع بكلمته حتى انفتحت عيناه ونال البصر. ويخبرنا الكتاب المقدس أن أول ما فعله بعد شفائه هو أنه تبع يسوع في الطريق. هذه هي الاستجابة الطبيعية للقلب الذي اختبر نعمة الرب. فعندما يلمس يسوع حياة الإنسان ويغيّرها، تنشأ في داخله رغبة صادقة في السير معه والتقرّب منه. لم يَحتج برتيماوس إلى من يقنعُه أو يدفعه ليتبع الرب. فالذي فتح عينيه واستجاب لصرخته أصبح أغلى شخص في حياته، لذلك أراد أن يكون قريباً من يسوع وأن يسير وراءه أينما يقوده.
ولم يكن إتِباع يسوع بالنسبة لبرتيماوس مُجرد اندفاع عاطفي مؤقت، بل كان قراراً بتغيير اتجاه الحياة كلها. فالرجل الذي كان يجلس يوماً على جانب الطريق أصبح الآن يسير في الطريق مع يسوع. لقد انتقل من حياة الاتكال على الناس إلى حياة الاتكال على الرب، ومن الظلمة إلى النور، ومن الجلوس بلا هدف إلى السير وراء المُعلّم. هكذا يفعل يسوع في حياة كل من يلمسه بنعمته؛ فهو لا يغيّر ظروفه فقط، بل يغيّر قلبه وأولوياته واتجاهه.
إن محبة يسوع ورحمته تدعواننا إلى التلمذة الحقيقية، لا إلى مجرد معرفة عنه. فالمؤمن لا يكتفي بقبول عطايا الرب، بل يشتاق إلى حضور الرب نفسه، وإلى سماع كلمته والتعلّم من طرقه. ولذلك يبدو أمراً محيراً عندما نرى أناساً يعلنون أنهم اختبروا عمل الله في حياتهم، لكنهم لا يُظهرون رغبة حقيقية في اتباعه أو طاعة كلمته. صحيح أننا جميعاً نعاني من الضعف والتقصير، ولا أحد منا يتبع الرب بالكمال، لكن المؤمن الحقيقي يحمل في قلبه شوقاً دائماً لأن يكون قريبًا من المسيح وأن يسير بحسب مشيئته. إنه يريد أن يسمع صوته ويتعلم منه ويعيش لإرضائه.
إن التلمذة الحقيقية لا تُقاس بالكلمات التي ننطق بها، بل بالخطوات التي نسيرها. فالذي يتبع يسوع يطلب مشيئته في قراراته، ويخضع لكلمته عندما تتعارض مع رغباته الشخصية، ويثق بقيادته حتى عندما لا يفهم الطريق بالكامل. فاتباع يسوع ليس حدثاً وقَع في الماضي، بل مسيرة يومية من الطاعة والنمو والاتكال عليه. يمكننا جميعاً أن نتذكر الأيام التي كنا فيها فقراء وعمياناً روحيًا. لم نكن نرى مجد الرب ولا ندرك صلاحه. كنا نعيش بلا رجاء حقيقي وبعيدين عن الشركة معه. كنا مفلسين روحياً وعاجزين عن خلاص أنفسنا. ثم مرّ يسوع في طريقنا، ولمْسَة نعمته غيّرت كل شيء. لقد أنار أذهاننا، وفتح أعيننا، ومنحنا حياة جديدة ورجاء جديداً ومعنى جديداً للحياة.
إن تذكّر ما فعله الرب لأجلنا يحفظ قلوبنا من الفتور الروحي. فعندما نتأمل في النعمة التي خلّصتنا، وفي الرحمة التي غفرت خطايانا، يتجدد امتناننا للرب يسوع وتتقوى رغبتنا في خدمته. كثيراً ما يبدأ التراجع الروحي عندما ينسى المؤمن مقدار ما ناله من نعمة، أما القلب الشاكر فيبقى قريباً من الرب ومستعداً للسير وراءه.
ولهذا فإن اتباع يسوع يجب أن يظهر عملياً في حياتنا اليومية. فهو يظهر في أمانتنا في الصلاة وقراءة الكلمة، وفي محبتنا للآخرين وخدمتنا لهم، وفي استعدادنا للغفران، وفي تمسكنا بالحق حتى عندما يكون الثمن مرتفعاً. كما يظهر في قراراتنا اليومية، وفي طريقة تعاملنا مع عائلاتنا وزملائنا وإخوتنا في الكنيسة. ففي كل مكان نوجد فيه لدينا فرصة لنعلن من خلال سلوكنا أننا تلاميذ يسوع.
يذكّرنا الرب قائلاً:" إِنْ أَرَادَ أَحَدٌ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ وَرَائِي، فَلْيُنْكِرْ نَفْسَهُ وَيَحْمِلْ صَلِيبَهُ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ وَيَتْبَعْنِي." ( لوقا 9: 23) ويقول أيضًا: "خِرَافِي تَسْمَعُ صَوْتِي، وَأَنَا أَعْرِفُهَا فَتَتْبَعُنِي." (يوحنا 10: 27) كما يكتب الرسول بطرس: " لِأَنَّكُمْ لِهَذَا دُعِيتُمْ. فَإِنَّ ٱلْمَسِيحَ أَيْضًا تَأَلَّمَ لِأَجْلِنَا، تَارِكًا لَنَا مِثَالًا لِكَيْ تَتَّبِعُوا خُطُوَاتِهِ.." (1بطرس 2: 21) ويؤكد الرسول يوحنا: "مَنْ يَقُلْ إِنَّهُ ثَابِتٌ فِيهِ يَنْبَغِي أَنَّهُ كَمَا سَلَكَ ذَاكَ هكَذَا يَسْلُكُ هُوَ أَيْضًا." (1 يوحنا 2: 6)
لقد تبع برتيماوس يسوع في اللحظة التي أبصر فيها. وهكذا ينبغي أن تكون حياتنا نحن أيضًا. فكلما تأملنا في نعمة الرب يسوع التي خلّصتنا، ازداد شوقنا للسير وراءه. وقد لا يكون الطريق دائماً سهلاً، لكنه الطريق الذي يقود إلى الشركة مع الرب وإلى البيت السماوي الذي أعده لأولاده. فليكن هدفنا كل يوم أن نعرف يسوع أكثر، وأن نحبُه أكثر، وأن نتبعه بأمانة حتى نراه وجهاً لوجه في المجد.
FOLLOWING JESUS
“And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.” (Mark 10:52, KJV)
Blind Bartimaeus was sitting by the roadside begging when he heard that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. Realizing that this was an irreplaceable opportunity, he began crying out for mercy. Despite attempts by people to silence him, he continued crying out with faith and persistence until Jesus responded to him. As soon as Jesus spoke, his eyes were opened and he received his sight. The Bible tells us that the first thing he did after being healed was to follow Jesus along the road.
This is the natural response of a heart that has experienced the grace of the Lord. When Jesus touches and transforms a person’s life, a sincere desire arises within them to walk with Him and draw near to Him. Bartimaeus did not need anyone to persuade or push him to follow the Lord. The One who opened his eyes and responded to his cry had become the most precious person in his life; therefore, he desired to stay close to Jesus and follow Him wherever He led.
Following Jesus for Bartimaeus was not merely a temporary emotional impulse; it was a decision to change the entire direction of his life. The man who once sat by the road was now walking on the road with Jesus. He moved from dependence on people to dependence on the Lord, from darkness to light, and from sitting without purpose to following the Teacher. This is what Jesus does in the life of everyone He touches by His grace; He does not only change circumstances, but He changes the heart, priorities, and direction.
The love and mercy of Jesus call us to true discipleship, not merely to knowledge about Him. The believer is not satisfied with receiving the Lord’s gifts only, but longs for the Lord Himself, for hearing His Word and learning His ways. Therefore, it becomes puzzling when we see people who claim to have experienced God’s work in their lives, yet do not show a real desire to follow Him or obey His Word.
It is true that all of us struggle with weakness and failure, and none of us follows the Lord perfectly. Yet the true believer carries within his heart a constant desire to be close to Christ and to walk according to His will. He wants to hear His voice, learn from Him, and live to please Him.
True discipleship is not measured by the words we speak, but by the steps we take. Whoever follows Jesus seeks His will in his decisions, submits to His Word when it conflicts with personal desires, and trusts His guidance even when the path is not fully understood. Following Jesus is not an event in the past; it is a daily journey of obedience, growth, and dependence on Him.
We can all remember the days when we were spiritually poor and blind. We did not see the glory of the Lord nor recognize His goodness. We lived without true hope and were far from fellowship with Him. Spiritually bankrupt and unable to save ourselves, we were in desperate need of His grace. Then Jesus passed by our way, and the touch of His grace changed everything. He enlightened our minds, opened our eyes, and gave us new life, new hope, and a new meaning for life.
Remembering what the Lord has done for us protects our hearts from spiritual coldness. When we meditate on the grace that saved us and the mercy that forgave our sins, our gratitude to the Lord Jesus is renewed and our desire to serve Him is strengthened. Spiritual decline often begins when a believer forgets how much grace he has received, but a thankful heart remains close to the Lord and ready to follow Him.
Therefore, following Jesus must be expressed practically in our daily lives. It is seen in our faithfulness in prayer and reading the Word, in our love and service to others, in our willingness to forgive, and in our commitment to truth even when the cost is high. It is also seen in our daily decisions and in the way we deal with our families, colleagues, and brothers and sisters in the church. Wherever we are, we have the opportunity to show through our conduct that we are disciples of Jesus.
The Lord reminds us: “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” (Luke 9:23) He also says: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27) The Apostle Peter writes: “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps.” (1 Peter 2:21) And the Apostle John confirms: “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” (1 John 2:6)
Bartimaeus followed Jesus the moment he received his sight. So it should be with us as well. The more we reflect on the grace of the Lord Jesus who saved us, the greater our longing becomes to follow Him. The way may not always be easy, but it is the way that leads to fellowship with the Lord and to the heavenly home He has prepared for His children. Let our daily goal be to know Jesus more, to love Him more, and to follow Him faithfully until we see Him face to face in glory.
