Shalom everyone.
As we remember our fallen soldiers and victims of terror attacks since 1948, I felt to share with you this letter from an IDF soldier, which is both very sad and very beautiful at the same time.

This is Captain Eden Provizor’s letter to his father shortly before the ground offensive in the Gaza Strip, October 2023.

“Dad, I can’t tell you what will happen, but there’s a chance I won’t be coming home. I want you to carry on living as if I were with you. Continue enjoying life, going to restaurants, traveling abroad, and doing all the things we loved.

“I’m proud of what I’m doing. And if something happens to me, then it happens. I’m on the mission of my life; I’m protecting the Land of Israel. Know that I loved you and had a wonderful life. Promise me this, because only then can I continue."

That was the last his father ever heard from him.

Captain Eden Provizor, 21, was the tank commander during the breakthrough ground operation in Gaza. His tank led the battalion with courage and bravery for 23 days until it was hit by an anti-tank missile on November 18, 2023.

These words are the legacy of an entire generation of young Israelis. A generation of heroes.
