Two thousand years of waiting, and all it took was water. That date palm seed from Masada was not a relic. It was a loaded spring, coiled tight, holding every instruction it needed inside a shell the size of a marble. Seeds in dormancy do not slowly fade like a battery draining. They drop their metabolism to almost nothing — a kind of biological pause so complete that time barely touches them. The seed keeps its blueprint sealed, its moisture locked out, its signal for waking stored intact. Scientists have now sprouted seeds pulled from permafrost and ancient storage pits, some over a thousand years old, and watched them open like nothing unusual had happened. The Masada palm even grew into a tree. It was given a name: Methuselah. What looks like an ending is sometimes just a very long breath held in. Some things do not rush toward life. كتابة عربية على عملة صليبية.../د.محمد عقل
خلال حفريات قامت بها دائرة الآثار في سوق الخردوات(العتق) في مدينة يافا تم العثور في 16 آذار 2005م على قطعة نقد تحمل كتابة عربية إلى جانب رموز مسيحية، وهو أمر نادر في فلسطين خاصة والشرق عامة.
يعود تاريخ القطعة النادرة إلى فترة مملكة القدس الصليبية(1099-1291م)، والقطعة النقدية هي عبارة عن نصف درهم( نصف دراخما) من الفضة.
الكتابة الموجودة على الوجهين وضعت في داخل مربع. وهي مكتوبة بخط عربي قديم، والغريب في الأمر أنها تُشير إلى الثالوث المسيحي المقدس(الأب، الابن والروح القدس) على وجهي القطعة المذكورة. بجانب الكتابة العربية يمكن ملاحظة رموز(موتيفات مسيحية): صليب من جهة، ووردة جوري من الجهة الأخرى. في أسفل طرفي القطعة حول المربع تظهر كتابة أخرى وهي عبارة عن المباركة المسيحية.
يرى روبرت كول، وهو متخصص في علم النقود، إن مثل هذه النقود سكت في عكا خلال فترة قصيرة جدًّا (بين سنة 1251-1257م) حين قلّد الصليبيون نصف الدرهم المسكوك في دمشق في العهد الأيوبي في النصف الأول من القرن الثالث عشر.
وعن سبب الدمج بين الكتابة العربية والرموز المسيحية يقول روبرت كول إن ذلك مرتبط بزيارة قام بها ممثل البابا البيشوف الفرنسي Eudes De Chateaurouxلفلسطين سنة 1250م حيث اكتشف هذا المطران أن السكان واصلوا سك نقود تحمل اسم "محمد رسول الله" مع تعابير إسلامية أخرى، فطلب من البابا في روما التدخل شخصيًا في الأمر. بعد توجه المطران المذكور أصدر البابا أمرًا بفرض الحرمان على كل من يسك نقودًا من هذا الصنف. وحتى لا يتم الالتفاف على هذا الحرمان البابوي سك السكان نقودًا تحمل رموزًا مسيحية مع الكتابة بالعربية.
كانت اللغة العربية لغة الثقافة والأدب والمعاملات والنقود وقد فرضت احترامها على الفرنجة القادمين من أوروبا!!
