Look at this photograph.

Her name was Rosa Fischer. She was born 146 years ago today, on September 7, 1880.

She was a Jewish woman from Vienna who later lived in Budapest. In this photograph, she is simply a woman holding a cat, a small glimpse of an ordinary life.

Then came the Holocaust. In July 1944, Rosa was deported to Auschwitz. She was murdered in a gas chamber. Today, remember Rosa Fischer. May her memory be a blessing.

Funny how “indigenous names matter” - until the name is Jewish.

The names Judea and Samaria are thousands of years old, deeply rooted in Jewish history and ancient sources.

“West Bank,” by contrast, became the political name for the territory under Jordanian rule after the 1948 war.

If ancient names and indigenous history matter, why should Jewish history be the exception?

Call it Judea and Samaria.
