The foundation stone of the current church was laid in 1813. It has undergone a number of major structural changes since. These changes are noted on a display in the front porch of the church. There is also a guide book to the church available inside the front door which explains the many interesting features of the church. A guided tour is conducted during the summer months. led services listed above, the church is used for the celebration of weddings and funerals which are arranged by contacting the parish office by phone or email. Westport is a very popular tourist destination for both domestic and foreign visitors. It is becoming increasingly popular as a venue for weddings. The parish is delighted to offer it's facilities to couples from outside the parish as well as parishioners who wish to have a Catholic ceremony. It is desirable that couples from outside the parish would have their own priest. Couples wishing to use one of the churches in the parish should contact the Parish Office. A minimum of three months notice is advisable.
