Calvary Waterford

Last Sunday was a special morning for our church family as we shared that Tomek is beginning a three-month period of public observation as a potential elder at Calvary Waterford.

We’re so thankful for how the Lord raises up people from within His church to love, serve and care for His people. Over these next few months, we’d love everyone in the church to be praying—for Tomek and his family, for wisdom for our elders, and above all that the Lord would make His will clear.

This is an important season in the life of our church, and we want to walk through it together with prayer, patience and dependence upon Jesus.

Please keep Tomek, his family and the whole church in your prayers as we look to our Chief Shepherd to lead us.

A wonderful time with today as he led us through our Marriage Matters conference. Around 30 couples showed up to invest in healthy marriages.

A big thank you to all who came, the volunteers who made the day happened, and especially to our kid's workers from Dunmore East Christian Fellowship and Dundalk Community Church.

If there is a married couple in your life that is close to you, pray for them today.

When God seems silent, it does not mean He is absent.

Job could not see God—but he knew that God saw him.

David worshipped before his circumstances changed.

The Emmaus disciples thought hope was gone while the risen Jesus walked beside them.

At the cross, the moment of greatest silence was also the moment of God’s greatest saving work.

Hold to the Word.
Keep praying.
Worship while you wait.

When He seems silent, He is still faithful.

Three prayer points
1. Lord, help us remain faithful when we cannot see what You are doing.
2. Anchor us in Your written Word rather than in changing emotions or circumstances.
3. Teach us to continue in prayer and worship, trusting that Christ has secured us and that You will never abandon Your people.

What do we do when we pray faithfully, wait patiently, and still hear no answer?

Many believers quietly assume that God’s silence means something is wrong with them—or that God has turned away.

This week’s message follows Job, David, Abraham, John the Baptist and the disciples on the road to Emmaus. Again and again, Scripture shows faithful people who could not see what God was doing.

Job’s confession gives us the heart of the message:
“He knows the way that I take.” — Job 23:10
We may not see Him, but He sees us.

Above all, the cross shows us that the moment which looked like the deepest silence was the moment of God’s greatest saving work.

When God seems silent, hold to His Word, continue in prayer, worship while you wait, and trust His faithfulness.

What does God actually accomplish through generous people?

In 2 Corinthians 9:6–15, Paul shows that the harvest of generosity is much greater than the original gift. God supplies His people so that they can continue in good works. He uses generosity to loosen our grip on this world, make us more like Christ, meet practical needs, create thanksgiving and worship, and strengthen love within His church.

The Corinthians may have thought they were only sending money. Paul tells them they were creating worship.

But Christian generosity does not begin with us. It begins with the Father who gave His Son, the Son who gave His life, and the Spirit who gives new life to all who believe.

What does Christian generosity actually look like?

In 2 Corinthians 9:1–7, Paul shows us that generosity is both communal and personal. It belongs within the life of the church family, where we notice one another’s needs, encourage each other, keep our promises and remain humble enough both to give and to receive.

But generosity also begins in the individual heart. God is not looking for giving produced by guilt, panic or emotional pressure. He desires willing and cheerful hearts transformed by grace.

In this week’s sermon, Daniel Waldhelm reminds us that God Himself is the cheerful giver. Jesus willingly laid down His life for us, and the Father delights to give His kingdom to His children. Because we have received such generosity, we can learn to live with open hands.

“Just trust me.”

Those words might sound reassuring—but when money, authority, vulnerable people, and the reputation of Christ are involved, good intentions are not enough.

In 2 Corinthians 8:16–24, Paul does not simply ask the churches to trust his character. He chooses proven people, shares responsibility, welcomes the involvement of the churches, and takes deliberate precautions so that the Jerusalem collection will be handled honourably before both God and people.

This week’s sermon considers three marks of Christian integrity:

• Integrity requires proven people.
• Integrity takes deliberate precautions.
• Integrity exists for the glory of Christ.

We do not pursue integrity to earn God’s acceptance. We pursue it because we have been united by faith to Jesus Christ—the One who is the truth.

Grace-Filled Giving | 2 Corinthians 8:10–15

Why do Christians give?

Is it because God needs our money? Because we feel guilty? Because we're expected to?

In this week's message we continued our journey through 2 Corinthians and discovered that biblical generosity begins somewhere entirely different—it begins with the grace of Jesus Christ.

Paul reminds us that:

• Grace finishes what it begins.
• God measures willingness before amount.
• Our abundance can become God's provision for someone else.
• We can give generously because our Father faithfully provides.

Before God ever asks us to give, He first gives to us.

May our generosity never be driven by guilt or manipulation, but by grateful hearts transformed by the gospel.
