Today, 28th August, Pastor Gavin would have turned 48 years old.
As a church family, we would have loved nothing more than to order him a cake, gather together, and celebrate his life with him. Although we cannot do that in the way we once imagined, today gives us another precious opportunity to remember him, honour his life, and give thanks to God for the gift he was to us.
We know that Pastor Gavin is now rejoicing in the presence of the Lord, experiencing a peace and joy far beyond anything we can know from this side of eternity. And while we miss him deeply, we can be grateful that his earthly journey has ended in the presence of the One he loved and served.
Today, again and again we give thanks to God for his life—for the privilege and great honour of knowing him as a man, a friend, and our pastor.
We continue to trust in the God of all comfort and consolation, asking Him to bless, protect, comfort, and strengthen Pastor Gavin’s family and his church family.
And we hold firmly to this truth: the One who began this great and beautiful work among us is faithful to bring it to completion. (Philippians 1:6)
So today, as we remember Pastor Gavin on what would have been his 48th birthday, we choose not only to grieve what we have lost, but also to celebrate the life we were blessed to share with him, honour his memory, and—above all—give thanks to God.
Happy 48th birthday, Pastor Gavin.
You are deeply missed, greatly loved, and forever part of our story. 🤍
