O Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of our Lord
and Savior, Jesus Christ, you are the gentle Queen of Heaven and the refuge of sinners on earth. With a heart full of trust, I come before you today. Spread your mantle of love and protection over me. Intercede for me before your Divine Son, that my prayers may rise like incense before His throne. Mary, Star of the Sea, guide me in the storms of life. Mary, Comfort of the Afflicted, heal my wounds. Mary, Mother of Mercy, obtain for me the grace to live in holiness. Teach me to love Jesus with your own pure heart, to obey Him with humility, and to serve Him with joy until my life's end. O Mother most faithful, never abandon me. Stay with me in every trial, and lead me safely to your Son, who lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen.'

St Augustine is celebrated today, an African saint who died in 430.

He was brought up a Christian but left the Church early, got caught up in all kinds of false doctrines, and spent a great deal of time searching for the Truth in the wrong places.

This led him down all sorts of paths and a sinful lifestyle that left him feeling emptier than ever.

His holy mother, St Monica, who we celebrated yeaterday, however, kept praying for him, shedding tears, and it was after hearing a sermon from the Bishop of Milan, St Ambrose, that it all came together for him.

He was converted back to Christianity and he then became a priest and a bishop, and one of the great theologians of the past 2,00 years......and a saint!

We now have the first son of St. Augustine as our Pope, so we will hear much more about his writings and thoughts.

His story reminds us to never give up praying and offering sacrifices for anyone.

Have your say on proposed pedestrian improvements in the vicinity of St Anne’s National School, Rathangan.

Wexford County Council proposes to construct new footpaths and associated pedestrian infrastructure in the vicinity of St Annes’s National School, Rathangan. These intervention works are part of the Safe Routes to School Programme, which aims to improve pedestrian safety for school children. This is an opportunity to view plans, meet the project team, ask questions and share your feedback.

We encourage parents and local residents to attend and have your say on the proposed improvements.
