Gus sang with our choir for many years, along with his wife, Betty. He always took great care to know his harmony lines and he had a gorgeous mellow voice. Our deepest sympathy to our friend Betty and all Gus's family, may he rest in peace. 🎵

Carols by Candlelight - A night of peace and wonder

As Advent draws us toward the promise of Christmas, Knock Basilica will glow with the soft light of candles and the familiar warmth of carols. “Carols by Candlelight” invites families, pilgrims and friends to gather in quiet reverence and joyful anticipation. Surrounded by flickering light and voices joined in melody, you’ll feel the nearness of peace — a moment of stillness in a hurried world.

'Carols by Candlelight' will take place on Sunday, December 21st at 8pm. This joyous evening of festive music and well-known Christmas carols is the perfect way to begin your Christmas celebrations this year. Set in the candlelit surroundings of Knock Basilica, the evening will feature Schola Cantorum Basilicae and Knock Youth Choir. Musical accompaniment will be by the Con Tempo string quartet and pianist Mark Keane.

The event is free of charge. No booking required.

Tonight we were in Swinford Hospital carol singing. A lot of the patients there were in great voice themselves and helped us out. One lady told us she used to sing in a church choir herself! We all had a great time, thank you to the patients and staff for having us and to Sile for the lovely welcome. 🥳🌲🤶🧑‍🎄

🐾 We Need You! Become a Volunteer Hero 🐾

We’re urgently looking for kind and reliable adult volunteers in Ballyhaunis who can give just 3 hours a week (choose a shift: 10am–1pm or 3pm–6pm).

Depending on what you enjoy, you could be:
🐱 Caring for cats and kittens
🐶 Walking our lovely dogs
🍽️ Feeding and helping with daily care
🧹 Keeping their spaces clean and comfortable

Most importantly, you’ll be helping frightened or neglected animals learn to trust, play, and love again—and they’ll return that love tenfold. 💕
