Thank you to everyone who helped make our Parish Picnic after Church on Sunday such a lovely occasion. It was great to spend time together as a parish family.

A short table quiz also added to the fun and enjoyment of the day.

We hope to hold another picnic later in the year!

At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.

We've buried our sons:
Gillespies and Wests,
Parkes and Kerrs,
Cunninghams,
Monds & Regan.

Their names are ours,
their memories gone forever,
our lives now emptied
of men and boys and their noises;
no cheering or beering,
just the sounds of slicing turf
and murmured voices
bringing broken earth
to broken hearts.

but not here,
their blurred bodies
claimed by shell-ploughed fields,
or welcomed by weeping mud
after a few short words and prayers.

Our sons lie elsewhere,
but their names are here,
immortal in stone that is
cold as each grave and
quiet as the streets.

Join us for our Harvest Service tomorrow (Sunday) at 7PM in Drumcliffe Church.

Bring along family, friends, and neighbours as we give thanks together for God’s goodness.

We’ll be welcoming Revd Stephen McElhinney, who’s travelling a long way to share God’s word with us.

Refreshements will be served after the service in the Church.

All Welcome.

More photos from the recent Mothers' Union Festival Service at Drumcliffe Church.

Our sincere thanks to Hazel Lawson and Fiona Greene who are stepping down from their leadership roles with the Drumcliffe MU branch after several years. The branch has gone from strength to strength under their leadership and it was very apt that they were presented gifts at the Festival Service by Jill on behalf of the Branch and by Ann on behalf of the Diocesan MU.
