Thank you to the students of the College of the Immaculate Conception (Aaron, Luke, Ryan and Kevin) and their teacher Evan for leading the parish in the Stations of the Cross in the Cathedral on Good Friday.

We celebrate the recent recognition of two prelates in our Church. Archbishop Fulton Sheen, the famous writer and evangelist, whose maternal grandparents came from Croghan, Roscommon, will be beatified 24th September 2026 by Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization in St Louis, Missouri. Fr Edward Flanagan, the founder of Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska, a native of Leabeg, Ballymoe, Co. Galway, and a former pupil at the College of the Immaculate Conception, Sligo, was declared venerable by Pope Leo XIV 23rd March 2026. We invoke the intercession of these two holy men native of our Diocese of Elphin.

Bishop Kevin invites you to attend the Mass of Chrism on Monday 30th March at 7.00pm in Ballaghaderreen Cathedral or Wednesday 1st April at 7.30pm in Sligo Cathedral.

During these Masses, Bishop Kevin will bless and consecrate the oils used in the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Orders and the Sick and the priests of both dioceses will renew their commitment to their priestly ministry.

Refreshments follow for all in St Nathy’s College and the Gillooly Hall respectively.
