ARE YOU READY FOR CHRISTMAS?
Do not let Christmas find you spiritually unprepared. Its joy and impact will be so much greater if you are ready.
YOUR ACTION LIST:
First, meditate on the fact that you need a Saviour. Christmas is an indictment before it becomes a delight. “Unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:11). If you do not need a Saviour, you do not need Christmas. Christmas will not have its effect until you feel desperately the need for a Saviour.
Second, engage in sober self-examination. Psalm 139:23–24 says, “Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!” Let every heart prepare him room - by cleaning house.
Third, build God-centered anticipation and expectancy into your home, especially for the children. If you are excited about Christ, they will be too. If you can only make Christmas exciting with material things, how will the children get a thirst for God?
Fourth, read and study the Bible together daily as a family. Jeremiah 23:29 says, “Is not my word like a fire,” Gather around that fire this Advent season. It is healing for a thousand hurts. It is light for dark nights.
We, sometimes, come to Christmas from a place of lack. We ask our children what they want for Christmas and make wish lists of our own. We worry about having enough money to get everyone the gifts we have imagined they so desperately want. We do all of this in celebration of the birth of Jesus, who had nearly nothing — not even a proper place to4 be born. Yet we proclaim this child to be King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Clearly, there is more to Christmas than the gifts we exchange.
The baby with “nothing” is the HOPE for the world. How will you refocus your attention on the HOPE found in Jesus Christ? How will you make room in your heart for HOPE this Christmas?

YOUR PRAYER GUIDE
“Father God, I pray that You turn my heart back to You, my Lord and my God. Help me to recognize the areas in my life where I have strayed and grant me a spirit of true repentance and a desire to follow Your ways. I ask that You help me to prepare my heart for Your Son, Jesus Christ, and for His second coming. Amen.”
