We have a God who delights in having a relationship with us; He delights in us coming to Him not only with our greatest joys, but also our deepest sorrows.

Jonah rejoiced in God's mercy when it was for him, but struggled when that same mercy was extended to Nineveh.

The book of Jonah ends with a question that reaches into our own hearts: Are we willing to celebrate God's grace when it is given to people we think don't deserve it?

The truth is, none of us deserve mercy. Jonah didn't. Nineveh didn't. We don't.

Yet God is gracious, merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love. His mercy has no borders.

The cross is where God's justice and mercy meet. Through Jesus, God offers forgiveness not because we deserve it, but because He is good.

We are never more like Jesus than when we show mercy to someone who doesn't deserve it—because that's exactly what He has done for us.

Join us next Sunday for our worship service, and let’s see what else we can learn through the book of Jonah!
