Children learn to trust God's mercy and forgiveness when they experience forgiveness from those closest to them. We hope that we model God's love and forgiveness within our family life. Today's Gospel reminds us that forgiveness is measured by its quality more than its quantity.
Invite your family to consider some recent times when family members sought the forgiveness of another. Ask if there were any statements made that put conditions on our forgiveness such as “I will play this game with you if you apologize for knocking over my blocks” or “I will accept your apology after you clean up your room.” Do we sometimes “keep count” or put conditions on our forgiveness of one another? This is something we may be doing without realizing it.
Read together today's Gospel, Matthew 18:21-35. Ask if we sometimes find ourselves sounding like Peter, concerning ourselves with quantity of forgiveness rather than offering forgiveness abundantly and unconditionally.

Fr. Peter Tamala We welcome to our parish Fr. Peter Tamala. He will be living in the second priest’s house and will be pursuing further studies at St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth and will be available on a limited basis to help in the parish. Please make him welcome as he settles into our community.
Children’s Liturgy starts back on Sunday the 20th of September. It is suited to children from junior infants to first class, but feel free to send your little one in with an older sibling or friend or parent if they are nervous coming up on their own. Fr Martin will call the children to the front of the altar at the start of mass and the volunteers will take them to St. Michael’s Oratory for about 15mins. We read a children’s version of the Gospel, discuss the main message for the day and what it means for all of us, then we colour in liturgy sheets to help us understand it all. The liturgy leaders are Garda Vetted. We'd love to have as many young parishioners taking part as possible.
Camino Fundraiser Update Thank you everyone who supported our Camino Fundraiser l. It was a huge success. We have most of the money gathered and are really close to hitting our target of €50,000. If there is any outstanding sponsorship, donations or sponsorship cards please leave them in the sacristy soon as possible so we can get a final total. Even if your sponsorship card is empty please return it.
The Divine Mercy Prayer Group will meet after the 8pm mass on Monday next the 14th September in the Church. We encourage more people to join our group as Our Lord has promised St. Faustina to recite the Chaplet even once He would be their Merciful Saviour at the hour of their death.
Inniskeen Ramblers ARA Owing to unforeseen circumstances one couple who were going on our Mini-break to the Clonakilty Park Hotel, Cork are unable to go on Tuesday 22nd September, a 2 night 3 day booking. This leaves one double room available if anyone would like to go with us.
