Our faith teaches us that when we gather to celebrate Mass, Jesus is present to us. The bread and wine truly become the Body and Blood of Christ. This is what we mean by the word transubstantiation: Jesus makes himself present to all who receive the Body and Blood of Christ. If there are children in your family who have already celebrated their First Holy Communion, invite them to share their memories of this special day. If there are family photos taken on this occasion, bring them out and share them together. Adults in the family may also share memories or photos that they have of their First Communion. Then read together today’s Gospel, John 6:51–58. Reflect together on what Jesus means when he calls himself the “living bread.” Recall that every time we receive the Eucharist, Jesus keeps the promise he made in today’s Gospel—those who eat his flesh and drink his blood will remain forever connected to him. Perhaps family members can share what it means for them to receive Jesus in the Eucharist. Together thank God for this gift of Holy Communion. Pray together the Lord’s Prayer or today’s Psalm.

Lough Derg Pilgrimage Season 2026: The traditional Three-Day Pilgrimage Season opened last weekend, with the first of the pilgrims arriving on Friday May 29th. A new offering this year is the opportunity to stay overnight on the Island on the evening prior to beginning either the Three-Day Pilgrimage or a One Day Retreat. This is in response to a practical difficulty that many pilgrims have raised in recent years, particularly for those travelling long distances, the gradual decline in bed and breakfast accommodation in the Pettigo and surrounding area, making it increasingly difficult to secure a suitable place to stay the night before the pilgrimage begins. Pre-pilgrimage accommodation to stay on the Island the night before the pilgrimage begins can be booked by contacting the office directly by email [email protected] or by phone 071 9861518. Further information in relation to the pre-pilgrimage accommodation is available on www.loughderg.org or by phoning the above number. Places are limited, and early booking is advised.

Because of God’s great love for us, he sent his Son, Jesus, to save the world. Jesus, in turn, sent the Holy Spirit so that our faith in God and his love would be strengthened. The nurturing experiences of family life also help us to understand and have faith in God’s love. Create a family poster together showing all the ways in which your family experiences God’s great love. Use symbols, pictures, and words to show how you have seen God at work in your family life and in our history. Then read together today’s Gospel, John 3:16-18. Pray together, thanking God for his gift of love. Conclude by praying the Glory Be to the Father or today’s Psalm.

Inniskeen Ramblers ARA Over 40 of our Ramblers recently had a very enjoyable Outing to the St. Patricks Centre in Downpatrick and St. Patricks Grave beside the Cathedral which behind the Centre. We had our morning refreshment in the Centre when we arrived and all agreed the Scones were absolutely gorgeous with Tea/Coffee served to us all. This was followed by a Tour of the Centre led by 2 Tour Guides who divided our group into Two smaller numbers so we were able to watch the 180*IMAX Film on St. Patrick and each group was taken on a Tour of "The Life of St. Patrick" in the Auditorium separately with all of us hugely impressed by both it and the informative Tour Guides. We held our meeting on Wednesday last and were delighted to host two members of the Richmond Group near Portadown together with three members of the Corduff Group. More about this in later issues. Our next meeting is on Wednesday 3rd June at 3.00pm.

Pentecost is sometimes called the birthday of the Church. The Gospel for Pentecost reminds us that the Church begins with the command to forgive. Within the family, the domestic Church, we learn how to forgive and how to accept forgiveness. The gift of the Holy Spirit enables us to do both. Today is a fitting time to share a family celebration of reconciliation. As you gather together as a family, sit quietly for a few minutes, inviting everyone to reflect upon their need to forgive and to receive forgiveness. If there is a situation or an issue within the family that needs attention, spend some time reflecting on how your family might address it. Read together today’s Gospel, John 20:19-23. Talk together about how Jesus gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit to help us in the work of forgiveness and to bring us peace. Pray together today’s Psalm or the Prayer to the Holy Spirit, asking that the Holy Spirit help your family. Share with one another a Sign of Peace.

Tidy Towns We would like to thank the girls and boys from the Inniskeen/ Killanny scouts , their leaders and the tidy town committee for the big clean up done on the roads into Inniskeen on Wednesday evening. Please DO NOT leave boxes and bags of bottles/ cans at the recycling area. If it is full please come back on another day. The bins in the village are NOT for household waste. It has been noticed that bins have been used for this purpose. They are for public use only. A big thank you to the people along the footpaths who keep the hedges trimmed and footpaths swept. This is a great help to us. We would ask anyone if they have an hour to meet up with the neighbours and go out and clean their road/ footpaths. There are a few roads that still need to be done. The village is very clean and tidy at the minute. Please keep our village litter free and use the bins provided for dog waste. Thank you for your continued support.

Even though we have less experience with sheep and shepherds today in our society, we can still identify strongly with the image of Jesus as the Good Shepherd and as the gate for the sheep. Psalm 23 remains a popular and favorite psalm for prayer. In the image of the Good Shepherd, we know ourselves to be protected and cared for by a loving God. As your family gathers, ask what each person knows about sheep and shepherds. Recall that shepherds and sheep have a close relationship. Sheep will only follow their own shepherd; they recognize his voice and will not follow a stranger. The shepherd’s job is to protect his sheep. In some ways, the relationship between the shepherd and his sheep is like that of a parent and child. Read together this Sunday’s Gospel, John 10:1-10. Talk about how Jesus tells us that he is the gate for the sheep. The sheep enter the protection of the sheepfold through the gate. In Jesus we find protection and abundant life. Conclude by thanking Jesus for being our Good Shepherd and by praying today’s psalm, Psalm 23.

We ask all drivers to slow down as there is a lot of young scouts helping us out. We also need your help to clean up your road or if you live in the village. Any full bags can be left at the football gates Wednesday evening and the council will collect them. Your help would be very much appreciated. We plan to get new welcome signs on all roads coming into the village. If you would like to sponsor a sign, please contact a committee member. The flower beds and hanging baskets will be put up and planted in a few weeks. This will add a bit of colour to the village. Unfortunately, there is bags of bottles and cans being left at the bottle bank when it is full please DO NOT leave them there. Take them home. This is littering. Please keep the village litter free and use the dog bins for dog waste if you are a dog walker. Thank you for your continued support.
