“You are God’s ‘now’, the Church’s ‘now’!” – Pope Leo XIV

A powerful message from Pope Leo XIV to young people gathered for the first West Africa Youth Day in Ghana.

Acknowledging the uncertainty and challenges facing young people today, Pope Leo encouraged them not to lose hope, but to recognise the difference they can make right now.

“You are not a sacrificed generation… You are God’s ‘now,’ the Church’s ‘now’!”

He challenged young people to become builders of bridges, agents of peace and people who ensure that no one is marginalised, isolated, excluded or rejected.

And a reminder for all of us in a digital age:

📱 “Our deepest questions are not heard or answered by endlessly scrolling on our mobile phones.”

A little Taizé photo dump 📸🇫🇷

It’s hard to capture a week like this in just a few photographs — but here are some of the moments from our recent Clogher don Óige pilgrimage to Taizé.

A long journey, new friendships, plenty of laughs, simple living, three times of prayer each day, moments of silence and reflection, and the opportunity to step away from the noise of everyday life.

We returned home tired, but very grateful for the week we shared together and for all that our young pilgrims brought to the experience.

Some memories from Taizé 2026 that we’ll hold onto for a long time. ❤️

Leaving Certificate Results Day

Today, we keep in our thoughts and prayers all the young people receiving their Leaving Certificate results.

For some, today will bring great joy and excitement; for others, there may be disappointment or uncertainty about what comes next. Whatever is written on the page today, remember that your results do not define your worth, your gifts or the person God is calling you to become.

🙏 A Prayer for Results Day

Loving God,
be close to every young person receiving results today.
Give them gratitude for what has gone well,
strength when things have not gone as hoped,
and peace as they look towards the future.
Guide them in the decisions ahead
and remind them that, whatever path they take,
You walk it with them.
Amen.

Congratulations to every young person reaching this milestone. May God bless you in whatever comes next.

GCSE Results Day

To all the young people receiving GCSE results today — congratulations on reaching this milestone!

For some, today will bring excitement and celebration; for others, the results may not be quite what you hoped for. Whatever is written on the page, remember: these grades are part of your story, but they are not the measure of who you are. There are many paths ahead, and today is only one step along the way.

Loving God, be close to every young person receiving results today. Calm their worries, share in their joy, and give them courage and hope for whatever comes next. Guide them as they make new choices and remind them that you walk beside them always. Amen.

Be proud of how far you’ve come. Trust in what lies ahead. God goes with you.

🙏 Feast of Our Lady of Knock

Today we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Knock, remembering the remarkable apparition witnessed by fifteen people in Knock, Co. Mayo, in 1879.

At Knock, Mary stood silently with St Joseph and St John beside the altar. Her silence reminds us that God does not always speak through great words or dramatic signs. Sometimes, He invites us simply to be still, to listen and to trust.

For all of us, and especially for young people, life can be noisy and uncertain. There can be pressure, questions, worries and moments when we don't know what lies ahead.

Today, let us turn to Mary, Our Lady of Knock, and ask her to lead us closer to her Son.

Today, many young people are receiving their exam results.

Whatever is written on that piece of paper today, remember that your results do not define your worth, your potential or the person you are becoming. Be proud of the journey you have made, and trust that God walks with you into whatever comes next.

🙏 A prayer for today:
Lord, be close to all those receiving their results today. Give them peace in moments of uncertainty, joy in moments of celebration, and courage when things have not gone as hoped. Guide their steps and remind them that they are loved beyond measure. Amen.

Whatever today brings, keep going, keep trusting, and remember that God is with you.
