Catholic Grandparents Association

Catholic Grandparents Association Helping Connect Grandparents Worldwide in Passing on the Faith. Grandparents were never as important to the church, the family, and society as they are today.

Welcome to the Catholic Grandparents Association

This association grew out of our Grandparents Pilgrimages, where thousands of grandparents gathered in recent years, united by the same goal to do the very best we can for our children and grandchildren. Grandparents have no agenda; they simply want the best for their grandchildren. They want them to be good, decent human beings, to know the differ

ence between right and wrong, able to make good moral decisions and, if they go astray along the way, to be able to find their way back to a loving, forgiving, non-judgemental God. Grandparents’ vital contribution to the family, the Church and society was never as important as now. We are living in unprecedented times, with constantly changing social and moral values. Sometimes we feel like we are failing. We are not. We can never fail so long as we keep on doing what we are doing – praying, showing the way and passing our Faith. At the heart of the Catholic Garandparents Association is the firm belief that this is our duty, our responsibility, our vocation, and we must do what we can. This is probably the most important job we will ever have and, for many of us, it may be our last. It is one from which we can never retire, so let us do our best. We owe it to our grandchildren.

Reflection as we approach the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity:
The heart of our faith: the mystery of the living “God, revealed in Jesus Christ, who, as a communion of Persons — Father, Son and Holy Spirit — is love itself in relationship, expressed in the mutual gift of self and in sharing with the world. “

Saint Isidore the Laborer reminds us that holiness is not found only in extraordinary things, but also in the quiet faithfulness of daily work. 🌾

As a humble farmer, he offered his labor, prayers, and ordinary life completely to God — teaching us that every task done with love and faith can become holy.

Today, may we remember to place our work, responsibilities, and efforts into God’s hands. 🤍

Saint Isidore the Laborer, help us offer our daily work to God.

Matthias, whose name means “gift of God”, was the disciple chosen to replace Judas as one of the twelve Apostles. The Acts of the Apostles state that he was also one of the 72 disciples that the Lord Jesus sent out to preach the good news. Matthias was with the Lord since His Baptism, and was “a witness to Christ’s Resurrection,” according to St. Peter in Acts. He remained with Jesus until His Ascension.

According to various traditions, Matthias preached in Cappadocia, Jerusalem, the shores of the Caspian Sea (in modern day Turkey) and Ethiopia. He is said to have met his death by crucifixion in Colchis or by stoning in Jerusalem.

There is evidence cited in some of the early Church fathers that there was a Gospel according to Matthias in circulation, but it has since been lost, and was declared apocryphal by Pope Gelasius.

He is invoked for assistance against alcoholism, and for support by recovered alcoholics.
