Calvary Church Loughrea

Calvary Church Loughrea We are a local church teaching and living the Gospel of Jesus. Meeting each Sunday in Loughrea We are Christians, not Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, or a cult.

We are a group of ordinary people whose lives have been changed by the extraordinary message of Jesus. We believe that God has given us a clear message in His word, the Bible, to transform our lives. We are part of Calvary Mission, a Christian organisation which has been spreading the good news of Jesus throughout Co. Mayo and Co. Roscommon for over fifteen years. We started in Loughrea, Co. Galwa

y in September 2017, and are privileged to serve our town and it’s people to God’s glory. We are meeting initially each week in Loughrea to study God's word, the Bible, and helping people to understand the transforming power of it's message.

This Sunday at Calvary Church Loughrea, we continue our series in Zephaniah in Zephaniah 2:12–15.

The city of Nineveh looked untouchable. Powerful. Secure. The kind of city no one imagined could fall. Yet God’s word exposes the danger of pride, not only in empires and nations, but in the human heart. This passage is a sobering one, but also a needed one. It reminds us that no power is too great for God, no pride is hidden from him, and no person is beyond the reach of his mercy.

We would love you to join us this Sunday. We meet in the Slieve Aughty Suite of the Loughrea Hotel and Spa from 11am. There will be a kid's program during the talk section of our service for kids in National School.

This Sunday at Calvary Church Loughrea we’ll be looking at Zephaniah 2:4–7. In this passage Zephaniah turns his attention to the surrounding nations, especially the proud cities of Philistia. These were places that looked secure, established, and untouchable, yet they stood under the judgement of the Lord.

It is a sobering passage because it reminds us that God sees the world as it really is. Nations, cultures, pride, violence, false security, public sin, hidden sin. None of it is beyond His sight.

And yet, even in this word of judgement, hope breaks through. The land left empty becomes pasture for the remnant of God’s people. The Lord promises refuge, restoration, and rest for those who belong to Him.

We meet in the Loughrea Hotel and Spa, Slieve Aughty Suite, at 11am. We’ll pray, sing, and hear a talk from the Bible. There’s a children’s programme for National School age during the talk.

This Sunday at Calvary Church Loughrea we’ll be looking at Zephaniah 2:1-3. In this passage Zephaniah calls people to gather themselves, to seek the Lord, to pursue righteousness and humility. And he says that His people should do it before the day of the Lord, His judgment, arrives. There is still time, but not forever.

It’s easy to assume we’ll deal with God later. When life settles down. When things become clearer. But Zephaniah warns against that. He makes things more urgent. He doesn't want us to drift comfortably.

At the same time, the call itself is an expression of mercy. God does not warn people for the sake of it. He tells us to seek because He is still willing to be sought, so that we would hide ourselves in Him.

We meet in the Loughrea Hotel and Spa, Slieve Aughty Suite, at 11am. We’ll pray, sing, and hear a talk from the Bible. There’s a children’s programme for National School age during the talk.

This Sunday at Calvary Church Loughrea we’ll be looking at Zephaniah 1:14–18, a sobering passage about what the Bible calls “the Day of the Lord.”

It is not an easy read. Zephaniah speaks of judgment, accountability, and the dreadful reality that no amount of wealth, comfort, or religious appearance can save us from God’s searching holiness.

But passages like this are not supposed to crush us into despair. They are given to wake us up and show us why we need mercy. They prepare us to see the beauty of Christ, who bears judgment so that sinners might receive grace.

We meet in the Loughrea Hotel and Spa, Slieve Aughty Suite, at 11am. We’ll pray, sing, and hear a talk from the Bible. There’s a children’s programme for National School age during the talk.

Tomorrow at Calvary Church Loughrea we’ll be in Zephaniah 1:7–13.

It is not a light passage. Zephaniah speaks of the seriousness of God’s judgment, the danger of spiritual complacency, and the emptiness of lives that carry on as though the Lord does not see or act. It is a needed word for comfortable hearts and careless religion.

But even hard passages are good for us. God speaks plainly because he is merciful. He wakes us up so that we would seek Him while he may be found.

We meet at the Loughrea Hotel and Spa at 11am. We’ll pray, sing, and hear a talk from the Bible. There is a children’s programme for National School age during the talk.
All are welcome.

This Sunday at Calvary Church Loughrea we’re beginning a new series in the book of Zephaniah.

It’s not a book we often turn to. It’s short, intense, and at times uncomfortable. But it speaks with surprising clarity into a world that feels unsettled, uncertain, and searching for hope. Zephaniah doesn’t avoid hard truths. He confronts complacency, exposes false security, and calls people back to God. Yet woven through it all is a promise — that God is not distant, but present, restoring, and able to save.

If you’ve ever wondered where God is in the middle of everything going on around us, this is a good place to start.

We meet in the Loughrea Hotel and Spa (Slieve Aughty Suite) at 11am. We’ll pray, sing, and hear a talk from the Bible. There’s a children’s programme for National School age during the talk.

All are welcome.

This morning at Calvary Church Loughrea we’ll be celebrating Resurrection Sunday together!

On Easter Sunday, Christians remember the great turning point of history: Jesus Christ rose from the dead. After his suffering and crucifixion, the tomb was found empty, and the risen Lord appeared to his followers. The resurrection is not a small detail of the Christian message. It is central to it. It means that Jesus has won the victory over sin and death, and that all who belong to him have a living hope.

Join us as we gather to celebrate the risen Christ and hear again the good news of Easter.

We meet in the Loughrea Hotel and Spa in the Slieve Aughty Suite at 11am, and we will pray, sing, and hear a talk from the Bible. There will be a children’s programme for National School age during the talk.

All are welcome!

On Good Friday, we remember the cross of Christ.

Jesus was not simply dying as an example of love or sacrifice. He was giving himself for sinners. He was bearing sin, facing judgment, and accomplishing our redemption.

The cross shows us that sin is real, judgment is real, and grace is real. It humbles us, because we needed saving. It comforts us, because Jesus was willing to die to save us.

This is why Christians still gather around the message of the cross. Not because it is easy or sentimental, but because it is where guilty people find mercy and where broken people find hope.

This Sunday at Calvary Church Loughrea we’ll be looking at Luke 16:19–31, where Jesus tells a story about a rich man, a poor man named Lazarus, and the reality of eternity.

It is a passage that is unsettling, but perhaps timely in our world. Jesus confronts the false comfort of wealth, and the fact that a person can have much in this life and yet be unprepared for the life to come. He calls us to see that eternity is real, that God’s word is enough, and that our response to him now matters deeply.

We meet in the Loughrea Hotel and Spa in the Slieve Aughty Suite at 11am, and we will pray, sing, and hear a talk based on this passage. There will be a kids program during the talk for NS aged kids.

All are welcome!

This Sunday at Calvary Church Loughrea we’ll be looking at Luke 16:1–18, where Jesus teaches his disciples through the parable of the dishonest manager.

It is a surprising passage, and at first it can seem confusing, but Jesus is pressing into something very clear. He is showing us that this life is not all there is, and that our money, possessions, and resources reveal what we truly value and where our hearts are really invested.

Join us as we think about what it means to live wisely, to be faithful in small things, and to use what God has given us in light of eternity.

We meet in the Loughrea Hotel and Spa in the Slieve Aughty Suite at 11am, and we will pray, sing, and hear a talk based on this passage. There will be a kids program during the talk for NS aged kids.

All are welcome!
